We had 2 coffees each with our main meal. Absolutely delicious food, everything was well cooked and nicely presented. Excellent service and everywhere was spotless. Lots of extra little touches that made for a pleasant visit. Would highly recommend and will certainly come back soon. Vegetarian options: There were several options on the menu and specials board Wheelchair accessibility: There was a ramp at the door, an easy access toilet and at table service
Really, really quaint and homely with homemade cakes and coffees of which the proprietors are rightly proud. They take care. Genteel older customers for the most part that one might imagine belong to the "County Set". After you enter life seems to move more slowly and gently. It it lace and china and lovely.
A very quaint café with such friendly staff, never disappointed when we visit. Everything tastes beautiful!
Lovely little café, independently run, bigger inside than we thought. Very tasty, fresh cooked food - we both went for the soup and toastie lunchtime combo. Piping hot warming, hearty soup with a chunky, generously filled toastie. Friendly, welcoming staff who had a good sense of humour and were happy to chat. Just what was needed on a chilly autumn day Vegetarian options: Vegitarian options available across the menu range. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly with a nice warm welcome. Parking: Only on street parking spaces available. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible, all on one level, with beautifully clean toilets.
We had often used Melanie's in the past so didn't think twice about calling in today. We knew the menu quite well so we kinda knew what we would order but we always check the specials. I ordered a ploughman's and the wife an afternoon tea. I was served very quickly but the wife had to wait a further 10 mins before hers arrived, the cheese and ham were fine on mine but the bread was awful, as if it was yesterday's bread re heated i couldn't tear it without it falling in a thousand pieces but I struggled on, in the end just gave up on the bread. In the meanwhile my wife was pulled a funny expression and i ask what was the problem, she said her egg mayo tasted awful, so I tried it and boy she was right it was about 90% mayo. So she just ate her scone and jam and drank her tea. When I went to pay the young waitress asked if it was ok and I replied as you ask it was not up to your usual standard. At this point the man behind the counter interrupted as I was explaining about the bread and quality of my wife's sandwich not allowing me to even finish my sentence. Demand several times ' what did you have then' again and again to which I replied, with the added that's rude, you asked my opinion and didn't even have the manners to alow me to reply. At which I informed them I didn't want to get involved in an argument as it was obvious he wouldn't listen anyway. We payed and left with a bad taste in our mouths in more ways than one.
Friendly staff, food was mediocre, but not too expensive. Welsh rarebit wasn't the best I've had. If the bread was a better quality it would have improved it.
Ordered a full English and a vegetarian breakfast. Both my partner and I had 1 mouth full of food and no more. The food was terrible, the atmosphere was worst. Unfriendly is an understatement. We made up an excuse to leave as the whole experience was shocking. Didn't even save the leftovers for my dog!!!
Lovely bacon and egg sandwich ,staff very warm and welcoming, breakfasts from what I could see being served looked yummy ,I highly recommend coming here
Excellent friendly service. Food cooked to perfection. Dog friendly. Will visit again.
Friendly, local-run cafe. Very reasonable prices for delicious goodies. The toasted tea loaf is mouth watering!!!
