Haven’t stayed but had food and drinks in the pub. The pub is really nice and the pub quiz was fun. Expected more from the fish and chips given the other half of the hotel is an upmarket fish and chip eat-in cafe. Scampi also quite bland. Chips mostly on small side and crunchy. Drinks were good and overall pricing was average.
Had a great lunch with the family. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Nothing was too much trouble. We were able to take a well behaved dog in with us.Service: 5/5
Amazing wee restaurant! First night we came for food and weren't disappointed! The starters were deffo the best part - haggis pakora and pork belly special. For main, I had the beef fajita which came out sizzling and really nicely presented. My husband had the chicken schnitzel and ate the whole lot which is a big deal for him Washed down with lots of delicious cocktails including black and white Russians! We came back the second night and decided to avoid starters as the two course the previous night were so filling! I went for the Cajun chicken and hubby went for the chicken on haggis special in a whisky sauce. Again, another two meals that we really enjoyed, freshly cooked, so much flavour! The staff were great both nights and even moved us table so the husband could watch the Football. Pet friendly so my wee pup had a great night, meeting lots of people and seeing other pups come in. Great location, great staff, delicious food and beautiful drinks! Would definitely recommend if you're in Pitlochry!
Came here for food and drinks and had great food and drinks. The place is bustling and warm. Good choice of food and reasonable priced drinks. Could do with a fire or something in the winter and some stuff on the ale taps but it won't stop me going backService: 5/5
Nice interior and looked clean, when prompted they can help you but don't appear to be interested in being pro active with service. Was "greeted" by a young girl busy on her phone, they were happy to comply with where we would like to sit. The chicken burger I had was tougher than I would have liked so after one bite I didn't eat it. When the plate was taken away I was asked if I wanted dessert; not asking how the food was or asked even during the meal and went so quickly I was taken aback so couldn't address the issue. When I managed to get the manager's attention, after waiting 20 mins on the table, she was able to get the girl back to the table who took £8.00 off the bill the meal cost around £16.95 if memory serves so paid £8.95 for some sweet potato fries that was part of the chicken burger plate. I was disappointed with the service and no one smiled except for the gentleman who brought out the food. I would not visit again.
Beautiful location, stylish hotel/rooms, lovely staff and delicious food. The only reason I've given 4 out of 5 stars for the room was due to the bed not being that comfortable but that could just be our personal taste. Would defo stay again and recommend to family and friends.Rooms: 4/5
We had been staying in a nearby lodge, decided to come here for dinner. Great choice of hot food and drinks. Was extremely satisfied with time waited and quality of food. Will definitely be back!Service: 5/5
Extremely poor service. Our server was rude and rushed our order, getting our wine wrong and not asking what sides we wanted with the schnitzel. Upon correcting the wrong wine server was rude and blamed us for the incorrect wine. Beef in the Thai beef red curry was extremely fatty. Chicken schnitzel was burnt on the outside and overcooked on the inside. Asked for a whisky menu and was told there isn't one no other help on how to order a drink. Went to the bar to find one I liked and asked for a price to which 2 separate staff wouldn't help and made excuses. If I wanted a whisky I needed to order one blind and hope it didn't cost £100 a pour. When it came to paying the server mentioned the 10% optional tip that was already on our printed bill. At this point we were not happy with the service or food so declined. Our server walked off, scrunched up our bill and tried to throw across the room in the bin. She came back from her tantrum and shoved the card machine in my face for me to pay before walking off not saying a word. We have also come to realise we have been overcharged on every item on the bill by small amounts compared to the menu online and menus in the restaurant. It seems this restaurant and its staff are lacking in the fundamentals of good service and expecting tips from tourists from countries with a tipping culture without actually giving good service.
Home from a lovely 2 night b&b stay at McKays. Breakfast was good.....we ate in the restaurant both nights, portions were huge glad I didn't order a starter. Staff were all lovely.Rooms: 5/5
Genuinely feel like we have just been robbed by paying for Christmas Day dinner. Prawns weren’t fresh at all on the starter, there was more fat than meat in the beef main, undercooked veg and potatoes as well as it being almost cold, as soon as one course was finished literally within 30 seconds the next one was on the table. Not one server or member of staff asked how the meal was, servers stroking and playing with customers dogs whilst serving food. Absolutely no occasion made of Christina’s dinner at all it was like going for a meal on an average Saturday afternoon overall a terrible experience and we certainly won’t be back. We have emailed and raised a formal complaint and guess what? No reply. Thanks for a rubbish Christmas dinner.
