A brief walk up from the harbor, this cool site was worth the trip. Beautiful houses and gardens along the way. It’s steep but doable for most. You can also drive and park pretty close. The views at the top were amazing.
Beautiful views of Oban from this local historical site. With a view point facing towards the harbour and a few benches to sit on. A steep walk from the tower centre or a short drive with a small free car park located outside the monument. The monument is beautiful to see from the inside and outside, with a grass area, trees, flowers and Bench's located within the tower. The tower is even lit in the evening which looks lovely.
Really beautiful place! Quite windy and a bit muddy when we visited, so be prepared. Amazing views and lovely atmosphere. Only required some stairs and a bit of a trek up the hill but nothing too difficult. It made for a nice walk! Highly recommend giving this place a visit!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
You can get some great panoramic views from here, that is unless it is wet and miserable, like when we went. But the garden was still nice and the board on the view point was helpful, pointing out landmarks and the islands. I’m sure this would look amazing lit up at night, but not yet had chance to have a look. Would recommend for the views.
Great place for a panoramic view over the near islands and on to Mull. Steep 15min walk up from main town but perfectly 'doable' if reasonable fit. Alternatively car park for maybe 20/25 cars alongside. Don't forget your camera and hope it's a pleasant day for optimal viewing!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Oban is seafood capital of scotland. We traveled to visit McCaig's Tower and Battery Hill. This November, the weather is quite cold and it gets dark early, so there is less time to see the city as the light runs out quickly. But it's worth coming here. Because it is a place that is high, allowing us to see the whole city of oban, very beautiful view and watch the sunset here. I also got to see beautiful ancient buildings. I really liked and the people here who came to greet me were friendly. I'm really happy
Megalithic, beautiful structure in the shape of a circle with numerous openings windows on the outside, similar to the colosseum. Top view of all of Oban with nice views. Beautiful vegetation in the summer.
Lovely panoramic views over Oban. It's a steep walk up from the town centre or you can drive up the narrow streets and park about 30 steps below. I've been there a few times over the years, and it's still always worth a visit just to enjoy the peace and quiet if you're lucky. Try and stick to the paths as people are cutting across the grass from the main viewing area. It's lit up at night which looks pretty cool. Read up on the back story behind it's building. It's quite interesting. Unfortunately there's nothing on site. So Wikipedia is you're friend.
Easy & quick walk up and wonderful views. I enjoyed taking my coffee and sitting on the benches around the tower facing the water. Highly recommend!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Although it looks like an ancient Roman aqueduct from the town below, this monument isn't all that old! In 1897, a wealthy banker built the tower as a means to provide work for local stone masons. It is beautiful, though! Nice spot to have a sit and enjoy the beautiful view of Oban.
