I’ve been here with groups of friends and with a partner and the food has always been delicious. Love the Naan bread and they’ll cook your dish to your liking if you’re not looking for anything too spicy. Service is friendly and polite and the place is very clean overall.
This restaurant serves closest to authentic Indian currys. They have many vegetarian options as well. Although the items are a bit pricey, I would recommend this hotel for its food and ambience. Mayur restaurant is located close to City Centre and has nearby paid car parking.
Very tasty food and friendly service, highly recommend. Had butter chicken, rice with mixed vegetables, garlic coriander naan. Also had a really tasty creamy chicken dish with almonds, cashews and fruit salad in it! was second or third last item on 'Traditional Items' part of the menu. Sweeter than butter chicken and I really enjoyed it.
I cannot recommend this place enough. The meal we got last night was delicious and the service we received was excellent. I would highly recommend Mayur for anyone coming to Portlaoise.
First of all I found the waiter a bit unfriendly. We walked in at just after 10pm the sign on the fooor said open till 23.30. He said “we close at eleven” I said if you can serve us before then we can eat it no problem” he looked like he’d just caught me in bed with his wife. The food itself was average at best. I got butter chicken my wife and son got tikka masala and when it came they were 100% all the same and they all tasted like tomato soup. The chicken which we all had had the consistency of stewing steak even though it definitely was chicken. The garlic naan was very nice, the place itself is nice. I’m writing this Sunday morning and none of us are ill or anything so I wouldn’t necessarily put anyone off going I just wouldn’t go again myself but given I’m not local that really won’t be an issue.
Consistently delicious food over the years .Unlike some other Indian restaurants it never disappoints. Great selection of old favourites and new creations eg Murgh Sholay , tender pieces of rolled chicken with a gently spiced stuffing or the mouthwatering sizzling lamb. Just 2 of their great dishes. Enjoy.
Really good food, very friendly waiter, food came out quickly, amazing!
I'm from India and I live in Dublin. Indian food in Ireland can be hit or miss. I visited Portlaoise on a weekend break and decided to get a takeaway from Mayur one evening. We'd ordered a little more than we could eat, so we ate lunch with the leftovers from the previous evening. Still yummy! My partner and I loved the food so much we got ourselves another takeaway the next evening too. The taste is splendid and the service from Mukesh who took our order on both days was top notch. Strongly recommended, such amazing food!
Ordered delivery via Just Eat, Lamb Vindaloo had no more heat than a korma!! Chicken Jalfrezzi, Chicken Boona, All very bland Garlic coriander, pishwari nan bread average, Poppadoms good, 3 dips with them not great very watery. Overall very very disappointed for overpriced Bland food. Will not be ordering or recommend to anyone in Portlaoise. Can't believe such low standard food...
Excellent all round, food & service.Food: 5/5
