Sadly gone massively down hill. Used to love going here, chicken was always fresh. Chips were chunky. Always had great lunchtime deals. Decent sized chicken portions. Been open for nearly 40 years and had been going for at least 30 of them. Sadly after going back the other week I’ve found it’s now style over substance and a poor deal - great branding - poor food and expensive. No lunchtime deal… 3 Leg & Chips etc. Chips now pretty much fries bright yellow and tasted more like crisps, chicken was really over cooked and too much coating, and portion sizes as small as KFC. The seasoning was so salty as well - only a hint of what it used to taste like. Really highly dissatisfied. Won’t be going back - which makes me really sad seeing as they’d managed such consistency over the previous 30+ years before they rebranded
First time at Marstons. Can't believe it took me so long to visit! So glad I did. Chicken top quality, flavours are lush, choice is vast, value for money is amazing, staff brilliant. My new 'go to' choice for a quick fix for teaFood: 5/5
Excellent fried chicken. Wings were exceptional. Chicken fillets were massive and succulent. Chicken fillet sandwich with coleslaw and salad was great value and very tasty. Service was very quick even though the shop was busy. I can't wait to go again Parking: Limited parking but street parking is allowed

The best chicken wings I've had in a long time. The chicken pieces are lovely aswell! Hot, fresh and just the right amount of batter. The fries are OK, nothing special. Knocked 1 star off as there was only 1 dip we liked, the rest weren't great.Food: 4/5
Unfortunately the chicken was too greasy for us, chips ok. Gravy had a unusual taste. Staff very friendly, parking for about 10 cars. Forgot to give us drinks we ordered so had to return.Food: 2/5
It’s always a good day when it’s a Marston’s Chicken day for work lunch! The chicken is seasoned well with a fresh crispyness to them - you can tell they go through a lot of chicken. The oil it’s fried in is fresh without clinging to the skin - it doesn’t leave your box as greasy as a place like KFC. The wings in particular are really moreish and it’s easy to polish off a large portion quickly. Even without the light batter, the chicken is very well marinated, so it’s still flavourful and moist. The gravy can be very polarising as some may like the overly-peppery taste, but I can see some finding it a bit too much.
Wanted to see what the fuss was about and wow it was well worth the trip from Birstall! Chicken burger was huge,and tasted amazing. Wings and Gravy best I have ever had. Will only be coming here from now on.Food: 5/5
Great staff, great service and the chicken is the best I have ever had, took a 20 mile detour on my way home to Leeds after walking my hound in the peak district to go to Marstons, thats how good their chicken is.Food: 5/5
Just a chicken, nothing special about it. I make better one at home, after marinated for 24h. Wanted to check what's that WOW everyone is saying, but it's just chicken with bland flavour. No parking, pavement is constantly blocked, pedestrian can't pass safely, I won't even mention prams or wheelchair, your customers bad parking practice is making unnecessary traffic on the main busy road. It will be reported to the police for obstructions. Parking: No parking, constantly blocked pavement for pedestrians and wheelchairs.
