Quite simply the best garden centre I’ve ever been to. I’m a houseplant addict, so the big houseplant section is heaven to me! The whole garden centre is really big and has everything you could need or want for your garden - thousands of plants and accessories, garden furniture and ornaments, crops/seedlings for your greenhouse, and so much more. Anyone who likes plants should go!
We chose this place to find a new Christmas tree and decorations and we were spoilt for choice. Loads of rooms with different themes for Christmas. There was also a food and drink market inside which was excellent. Spent around £165 altogether. Recommended for anyone who is looking to decorate their living room for Christmas plus don't forget they have a garden centre too!
Lots of variety here, you can get lost wandering around looking all the different plants. It's really one of the best garden centres that I have been to. Loads of stuff to see and do, there is a café, farm shop and a pet shop inside. I travelled quite a way to get here and I wasn't disappointed. I especially liked the assorted ephemera in the vintage section. Huge car park, staff friendly and helpful. Ice cream van outside too. Will definitely be back.
Very nice garden centre and very helpful and polite staff 10/10
Had a lovely day out to Gordon Rigg all your gardening needs met here. Be mindful though it can be expensive. Me and my friend had a coffee and cake at the cafe inside not at the Mill shop. Service there was fantastic all friendly staff and quick service will be going back soon
Love the nostalgia there, vintage vehicles, coin op ride on toys been there since the 1970s. The new cafe makes for an even more enjoyable visit. Great layout indoors with outdoor seating great for summer, it looks like the work of the gods of feng shui. Good size portions, proper chips with skin on and nice helpful staff. Particularly like the posters showing all the history of the garden centre. Be back in a few weeks for some seeds and plants
Gordon Riggs is a mix of shops all in one, really! There is a little food market with a mix of fresh and packeted foods, a nice selection of alcohol and some really lovely little gems. There is the florist with beautiful bouquets already made up and then a great selection of loose flowers to make up your own bouquets. Then, of course, the garden centre. Everything from seeds to mature plants; garden furniture and fencing; water features and fish; lighting and pots. There is a bit of everything in a good variety and price point. They do seasonal things, too, like pumpkins, wreaths and Christmas trees, and all of the other seasonal decor. Then there are the children's activities throughout the year: painting a bird box, Christmas activities etc for a small price. They also sell cards and candles and little bits and bobs for gifts, too. Oh, and a little coffee stall is available inside, too. One of my own favourite things that they have at Christmas time is a wonderfully magical Santa's Grotto!! I think they actually have 2 separate grottos now to deal with the demand, and both are so special. There is a huge carpark for all of this, and in the carpark is a food van and an ice cream truck most days, too, from what I have observed. And this is all just in the main building on one side of the road. Across the road, using the zebra crossing or pelican, I am not certain of the difference or their own small carpark is another building. This one has things like walkers' clothes and footwear; other just lovely pieces of clothing; bedding & throws; haberdashery and art supplies; toys and gifts; cards and wrapping papers and so so much more. On the top floor which can be accessed via a lift is a lovely cafe, where again there are some special seasonal events, such as breakfast with Santa. The food is perfect cafe food with a nice selection and an even better selection of sweet things, should that be your preference I know it usually is mine!. There is a little kids play area in one part of the cafe, which is actually slightly separate from the main room, so it is nice to feel that my kids aren't taking over the whole cafe when they play. All in all, I can easily spend hours at Riggs and often do. It's a nice mooch, even if you buy nothing more than a coffee as a companion, but I do find it difficult not to pick up a few gems whenever I go. It's got that kind of vibe. I just realised that it sounds like I own the place with such a long review. I don't, but I have been going here since I was a child and now take my own children especially for the seasonal fun and I think it's a great place for so many reasons. I'm trying to put it all in, but I will have missed out lots, I'm sure. Just have a look for yourself.
Quite a poor experience in the café. We were only 2 of about 15 customers ordering a small breakfast each. It took 20 minutes to arrive and was cold. I don’t understand why when you’ve ordered coffee to go with your breakfast they give it to you at the beginning, we’d drunk it by the time our breakfast arrived. Not a cheap breakfast either. I won’t be having this experience again. That said the garden centre over the road is exceptionally well stocked if a little overpriced.
There isnt a better garden centre in the northwest. Was dragged round there as a kid. Now i find myself making an afternoon of the visit. Well worth the trip. Has everything under one roof, for the most part its reasonably priced too.
One of the best garden centres for indoor plants. This site is bigger than their sister branch in Rochdale. HUGE selections of indoor plants. I often find rare species that I’ve never seen elsewhere. Reasonable prices. Loads of parking spaces. A bit of a detour from the M62, but worth the effort.
