Visited Marigolds for the first time and was pleasantly surprised that the reviews I've read on Google was accurate. Marigolds is well situated on a nice street in West kirby , its close to the beach and other local amenities. Upon arrival we was served promptly and our fish and chips arrived freshly cooked and it was a very big fish portion ,well worth the money. The was moist and batter crispy. I would of liked the chips cooked a bit longer but that's a matter of personal taste. Overall Marigolds is well worth a visit if you're in West kirby. We enjoyed our fish and and chips luncheon. Definitely give it a try
I was really impressed with this place. I had the GF large fish and chips and the portion size was good. There was a big queue outside the door but the staff were friendly and it was all very quick. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Wirral area. We travelled to West Kirby just to go here :
Came here on Sunday afternoon and ordered fish and chips and sausage and chips. Unfortunately my fish was extremely dry and didn't taste like fish should taste!! Not sure if this was cod or haddock as I never got asked and can't see a menu on the wall. Hopefully it is a one off!! Used to love coming here when it was a eat-in cafe, sad that they had to change it!!
Nice food, terrible customer service. The girl in question took our order wrong, then when this was highlighted, the response, in-between several 'eye rolls' to her colleagues, was "well I've done it now". Same girl also got previous customers order wrong, again being extremely unapologetic. Granted, the girl in question may have been having a bad day, but the likelihood is her attitude to people on a day to day basis absolutely stinks, and should be nowhere near any public facing role until she's mature enough to be able to admit her mistakes, and treat paying customers with the respect they deserve. **In response to owners comments, your assumptions are incorrect, there was no light made of anything, nor did I or the previous customer receive any apology. The one star reflects the overall experience I encountered and not the quality of the food. I am pleased that you will look into this, hopefully the training given will prevent this from occurring going forwards. I'm happy that others have left 5* reviews, and enjoyed their experience. My No 1 fish n chip shop for 48 years-the Acropolis in Ormskirk- has just been knocked off by Marigolds in West Kirkby!!! Large fish n cup dinner c. 10 pounds got me massive piece of perfectly cooked cod, pot of more than enough mushy peas and similar pot of gravy plus perfectly cooked proper chips. They use super fresh fish cooked to order in Beautiful batter -very different - perfect, chips excellent.Highly recommend and hope to go again!!

Lovely place, very polite staff. The food is served at a very good pace, the portion sizes are good mushy peas were delicious! and I loved the fact that they serve ice cream from the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm! All in all, lovely! 5*

We got gluten-free fish and chips for our coeliac daughters and whole breast chicken chunks for my son, all of which were delicious. If only I'd got the scampi for myself because it looked amazing! Dietary restrictions: Great to find a fish and chip shop that has gluten-free varieties and a dedicated fryer!
A gluten free large fish chips and mushy peas is always a special treat. The fish is succulent and plentiful
