My mum was under the care of Marie Curie as an outpatient for around 2 years and had two inpatient stays. My mum passed away at the hospice surrounded by her closest family, all of the team were lovely and knowledgeable, my mum became great friends with Dr Bonwick and enjoyed her community visits from Marie, in the time my mum was sick she didn’t let anyone bathe her but while staying at Marie Curie she let the wonderful Kelly give her a bath and pamper she showed my mum so much dignity and respect. Ruth the Chaplin gave my mum a lovely blessing and Norma from reception has supported my grandmother Linde amazingly during this time. Thank you for letting me be with my mum when she took her final breath and thank you for giving us all support. Lots of love my mum Kerstin Kiel & all her friends and family x
If I could give no stars I would. My mother was a volunteer here for many years and when she needed the care what was provided was worse than the pancreatic cancer that killed her. Our neighbour refused to go there having seen how my mother suffered and she received outstanding end of life care in a care home. Avoid like the plague
The staff are some of the friendliest and most respectful people I have ever met. All of the nurses and the doctor that dealt with us were lovely, as were the receptionists and security staff. We were visiting an palliative patient and they provided us with enough food and drinks to keep us going for days! The assortment of sandwiches was beautiful, and the wide range of drinks available to us was fantastic. Bev was the nurse who we interacted with the most, and she was one of the warmest and friendliest people I've ever met. The doctor Amy, if I remember correctly was also lovely, and had lots of time to answer our questions. If I knew the names of the other nurses and the receptionists I'd give them a mention too, as they were all wonderful. Facilities are very clean all round, too. Top class hospice!
My Mum was in care here for only six days, but, because of the exceptional pain management, those last days of her life were spent pain free. ALL the staff there are kind, compassionate, caring and extremely professional and I cannot commend them enough. The hospice itself is bright and homely and outside are many colourful flowers, shrubs and bushes which brighten the place even before you go in. Thank you again to everyone for the care and support which my Mum Enid and our whole family received.
My nan spent her last days here and the staff where amazing such a lovely place
