This is the best place to park short or long term for a visit to Dolgellau town centre. Strictly the location is really a sizable sports field for a football, rugby, and cricket club for the town, but it is put to use all year round by many clubs and activities. No matter where you stand on the Marian Mawr there is a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and hills including Cader Idris and the town. If you have a dog, ensure it is leashed as the local county council will impose a fine up to £1000 for any animal exercising on the Marian itself. They do however have dog waste bins around the edges and provide suitable bags too. The town borders one side of the Mawr and the river Wnion the other. Also the Marian contains the start of the Mawdach Trail. A 9 mile stretch of flat pathway built on top of an abandoned railway line. The other end is Barmouth with plenty to see in between. Dolgellau is a fab place to visit and the Marian Mawr is the best place to commence your visit especially if you go by car etc.
