Angela was a fantastic and very knowledgeable volunteer guide down in the caves. Had a great chat. Caves were very interesting and the facilities above ground were all clean and top notch. All the staff were lovely and very friendly. Only £5 each for adults! We were probably there 2 hours but we like to read everything and absorb it all so most people can probably get round it in about an hour tops. Would REALLY recommend a visit!
Visited today 19/12/24 for the Father Christmas visit. Amazing and magical. The Caves were decorated beautifully- real winter wonderland. The Elf’s were welcoming, friendly and really played the characters. As for Father Christmas- job well done; best we’ve seen in Thanet. Thank you all for being so patient and making it special not just for my little boy but us as a family. The crafts were great, the cafe sold homemade bakes, and was responsibly price. Will be back next year.
Had a lovely experience today reliving into the depths in Margate. The cave guide Angela was very knowledgable & clearly cares a lot about preserving this wonderful snapshot of Kent’s past.nnThe Margate Caves were a great little discovery. Very reasonably priced.nHot & cold drinks, cake & snacks available & on site toilets.nnWell worth a visit if your in the area!
Fantastic great British tourist attraction/ historical site. We arrived at around 12.30 on a sunny Saturday afternoon having walked up from Margate Station. It wasn't busy and after a quick safety check were directed to the caves.n50' feet below ground level stairs only, are the carved out remains of a mine carved out the chalk base, with the remains of 18th century cave paintings. We pretty much had the run of the whole mine, so we're able to clean a lot of info from the knowledgeable attendant. We were done in about 40 minutes and headed back upstairs for drinks.
These caves were real fun. The staff were kind and interesting, wanting to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the caves. The shop was interesting, again the staff wanted to share their knowledge and enthusiasm. And the coffee and cakes!!! Thank you all for a great trip.
