Beautiful place some beautiful views and lovely walk around the orangery and park for kids. Historical too with a castle too. Steep in history. A day out easily. There is also a lovely little pantry and ice cream parlour plus and lovely lake with wild birds.
Beautiful park with deer roaming around the grounds. The gardens are extensive, especially magnificent are the Tulip trees liriodendron tulipiers. There’s a great play area for children, a castle and other buildings for them to play around. Pleasant cafe in the stables currently outdoor seating. The paths are well made and easy to walk, gravel finish. A beautiful spot with far reaching views. It is a large area to explore!
Lovely place to spend the day. It's free to get in and you only have to pay £6.50 for parking for the day which is a very cheap day out for a family especially if you take a picnic and thermos of hot chocolate like we do. We've been here many times and always do something different. There are adventure playgrounds for kids including a fairy tale themed one and a wooden castle themed one; historic buildings including the stunning Gothic mansion; a farm trail with peacocks, hens, donkeys, ponies, alpacas, goats and more; mountain biking and hiking trails, and if you're looking for adventure, a Go Ape course, and water sports canoeing, kayaking, SUPing for an extra charge. We love it here.
Beautiful place for picnic, walk. Plenty of attractions for kids. Dogs are allowed but on the lead excluding Fairytale Village. Be prepared for few hours if you want see everything. Everyone find something for yourself.
This is always a wonderful day out for anyone. The alpacas especially were the highlight of the day for us. We have been looking into getting some ourselves. We were lucky enough to be there when they were being fed and the gentleman feeding them was so incredibly friendly and helpful. He told us all about them, their behaviour, their origins, their wool. What a lovely guy! Playground: The playground is great for the kids to let off some steam, it's large and has a good variety of things for the kids to do. It's fenced and in the middle of the park. Restrooms: W/C facilities are in the courtyard by the cafe and food area. Dog-friendliness: This is a nice place to take your dogs, great if you have kids and dogs. It has nice open spaces. Picnic area: There are picnic benches dotted around conveniently so you can stop and eat whenever you feel hungry. There is also a courtyard with tables and a cafe.
When planning to visit this place, I wasn't expecting a huge amount of interesting things for kids or for the rest of the family. I was completely mistaken! With two young kids, we spent a good time walking to the adventure playground through the wood vibrations pathway. It was interesting, fun and while windy the play area was great and hidden by trees which helped cut out the wind. Unfortunately, the train was out of service when we went, but it looked like it would have been great as well. The house and Abbey were stunning, as were the walled gardens. A very dog friendly place, but beware that the paths through the wood are steep and not paved and can be slippery if wet. A wonderful time had by all and I highly recommend it!
Great place to spend a few hours. We took a picnic today but have eaten in the cafe on previous occasions which has always served nice food. Great little play area for kids as well as some ponds to see wildlife. Not to mention the deer which can sometimes be seen
Lots of space and very dog friendly, they have a small farm area you can go through and you can easily spend and hour or two just walking around. Parking is reasonable as it's around £6 per car but that allows you access into the estate. Wish the cafe was slightly more exciting and did a larger range of cakes and snacks etc. We live nearby and it's great when you want to walk the dog but avoid the hills, although there is a lovely walk if you go up the hill past the go ape setup.
A place where you can take a break from the hustle and bustle. The area of the park is very large and although it is apparently very popular with people from the nearby Port Talbot, the place does not feel overcrowded. The biggest attraction of the park is undoubtedly the Margam Castle, but there are also other interesting places that you gradually discover while walking along the paths: orangery, church ruins, garden sculptures. It is worth adding that the castle, although it is certainly a pearl of architecture, has almost nothing to offer visitors inside. Practical information: access from the M4 is very easy, the car park is spacious and the fee for it is also a ticket to the park, you pay for it at the kiosk by the gate, and beware, American Express is not accepted there for some reason. Right next to the castle, there is a tea room, a toilets and a narrow-gauge railway station. There is also a beautifully made playground for children in the park.
We always have a wonderful time here! We had the pleasure of meeting and hearing the story teller in the castle on this visit! Brilliant experience. So much to do and a fantastically well maintained park.
