Impressive and imposing. Interesting to see and feel the difference between this cathedral and the one in Ely for example. The location of the organ surprised me and is already worth the visit. It is visually stunning. The modern chairs disappointed me, the colour of them at least, but that's very much a personal taste.nGet used to the, what feel like, unusual layout and your time. You will see more and more beautiful details.
Manchester Cathedral, stands as a historic and architectural gem in the heart of Manchester, England. Its rich history and stunning design make it a must-visit for anyone interested in Gothic and Romanesque architecture. The organ music resonates through the vast space during services and concerts.Whether you’re a worshipper seeking solace or a curious visitor exploring history, the cathedral welcomes all. The echoes of prayers, the flicker of candles, and the quietude invite contemplation.
One of the highlights is its awe-inspiring Gothic architecture, characterized by soaring arches, intricate stonework, and majestic stained glass windows. The interior exudes a sense of grandeur and tranquility, offering visitors a space for reflection and contemplation amidst the bustling city.nnIts beautiful choir stalls, ornate furnishings, and historic artifacts provide a glimpse into Manchester's past and its enduring connection to faith and tradition.
Manchester Cathedral may not be the largest cathedral but it is very beautiful and definitely worth popping into.nnA Gothic church built between 1421 - 1882, Manchester Cathedral seats about 940.  It was severely damaged during WW2 and again in 1996 IRA bombing.  It is unusual in that it boasts a mix of medieval woodwork in the north of the cathedral and in the choir to very beautiful but quite modern stained glass windows.
A wonderful building that I was very kindly allowed to photograph. Stunning stained glass windows and architecture that just stops you in your tracks. Well worth a visit, even if like me, you're not religious.
