Mamma's Fish and Chips | Irvine's Finest
Mamma’s fish and chips shop has been at the heart of Irvine town year after year and for every little thing. New Year celebrations. Easter egg chases. Marymass and the parades. Christmas snow and the lights. And even for all the big things. The River Irvine shipyard building ships before the war. The opening of the Magnum. The closing of the Big Idea. And the Medda fans leaving for Easter Road from the Cross.
The oldies may remember the chippy as the Victoria Café before the nickname Mamma’s stuck and became official. A simple name that says everything about the affection between you Irvineites and the chippy.
Fiercely traditional in keeping with the tried-and-tested recipes and methods, Mamma’s still serves up delicious suppers wrapped in paper. So you can sniff the wonderful whiff of vinegar on the way home. And let’s face it, you can’t resist it can you? Just a chip. And a wee bit of the fish. And before you know it, it’s finished and your tummy is warm and happy.
And no matter how much Irvine changes, Mamma’s same great taste never does. Through good times and lean times. Boom and bust. And during this recession, Mamma’s is still here. Giving you great food, served up with love.
