The service and staff deserve 5+ stars. We tried this place twice and whilst we liked the flavours, the portion sizes are small for the price. Even the bowl of rice didn’t seem to have enough in there. On our second visit we ordered the beef rib at £20 from the day’s menu, and although it tasted good, it was mostly fat and the little meat it had was remarkably hard to cut even with the stale knife and even harder to chew. Also the ventilation in the kitchen needs improving. Shame as it’s a cute little place and very welcoming, so we think it has potential to improve.
This is my favourite restaurants in London by a mile. Been multiple times and the food is just outstanding. Perfectly cooked chicken, crispy skin and balanced adobo sauce. The Kare Kare is amazing: great peanut flavour and smoky hints from the aubergine. Coconut rice is really flavourful and complemented everything. Amazing service as well and fairly priced. Absolutely recommend the trip here, you won’t be disappointed.
Attended a private event and ate a three course vegan menu as an alternative to the meat options. Food was well presented and tasted good. Service was special as the restaurant is intimate. Chef was particularly friendly and went of his way to make us feel about about his menu. I would say that as it was a private event, the vegan option shouldn’t cost the same as the meat option, but that may be different when ordering a La Carte. If you haven’t tried Filipino food, you can definitely start here. Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options are decent.
As a Filipino, I can safely say BEST Filipino food in North London, possibly all of London still eating my way through them.... The chilled vibes, the food, the desserts - everything was just spot on. The beef kare kare was my favorite dish followed by the chicken adobe. The coconut rice was a great match with all the sauces too Also, it's really fairly priced. And I love how they get their desserts and ice cream from a fellow Filipina based out of Walthamstow, helping support other small businesses Definitely go here if you're thinking about it
Great food, great service and cute interior. I loved trying the unique dishes that were recommended by our server. I had never had Filipino food before but I will definitely be back! Only feedback would be a couple more vegan options wouldn’t go amiss !
What a fantastic meal. I’d recommend looking to see what the specials are as you’ll get something truly amazing and very different from most places you’ll visit. The flavours are intense and the portions are generous. Staff are friendly and we weren’t rushed at all. It was a lovely Friday night meal where we were able to sit and enjoy intense flavours that definitely leave me thinking about new flavour combinations.
Would give more than 5 stars if possible. Booked the window seat by the entrance for my partner and I's anniversary. Quick response. When we arrived, we were promptly and warmly led to our table. Such excellent food, wonderful ambiance, and world class service. Salamat po. Vegetarian options: Vegan, GF, Vegetarian friendly options
Finally returned to this Pinoy gem of a restaurant after a couple of years. Menu is smaller though and only 4 days of operation. Palabok, slow cooked beef and Biko are still fantastic!! Giving it 4 stars only because the squid adobo and morning glory were too salty and garlic rice though delicious was too oily. I hope these could be easily rectified.
Extremely satisfied time & again by the exceptional flavours pork belly adobo, beef ribs, okra stir fry!! Worth travelling out to & will definitely be back
Recommended by a friend who visited the restaurant recently. We decided to try it for Sunday dinner. Arriving just after 6pm with no reservation, the restaurant was busy but the waitress was able to accommodate us. First impressions of Mama Kubos was very homely and very friendly atmosphere. We ordered for starters - pork susig and Kubo calamari which is predressed in their own sweet and chilli sauce which was definitely recommended. For the main course, we had one of the specials of the day - the Kubo beef brisket which was slow cooked for 2 hours and served with pumpkin and broccoli. Would definitely recommend this as it was really tender and juicy. We also had the Pancit chicken which was okay. Portions were really big so luckily we were able to take some away. For dessert we had the halo halo which was okay but quite expensive. Although again the portion was big so you can share one between 2 people. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and would be coming back to try the other specials and desserts. So we would recommend this restaurant to try some authentic Filipino food!!
