Beautiful setting, lovely staff. Food very disappointing and not as expected. Starters of garlic mushroom on crumpet very unappetising and the chicken pate was tasty but butter on top was hard to spread and virtually inedible. Chutney was tasty. Main course was not as ordered consisting of small pieces of steak on a hard bun, mustard, chips, gravy and salad. I actually ordered an 8oz rump steak. The server offered to change it but my partner had already started on his sirloin steak and didn’t want it ‘warming up’ whilst my food was prepared. I ate the steak pieces which were nice and the chips but i don’t like mustard or salad. My partner said his food was edible and his steak was ok but not the best he’s ever tasted. My partner paid in full for the meal and left a tip for the service - but we weren’t even offered a discount, a complimentary coffee or even an apology. It was our first and last time at this restaurant. We only called in because we are looking for a venue to take our family for a good meal in January. Sadly it will not be Malthouse Farm.
Food was utterly delicious. Couldn't fault it. Beef cheeks were totally gorgeous and my gammon with coke & whisky sauce was utterly YUM with chips cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef. Service really quick and friendly. Bar area only is dog friendly. Doggy treats and water readily available. Rubbish auto booking service - don't use! Managed to get a table as we were driving up north to Lancaster even though we'd tried to arrange to book by telephone via an automated system and they didn’t have a record of our booking or the message my husband had to leave. The manager and a member of staff kindly squeezed us in with the dog even though they'd just officially shut the kitchen 8pm on a Thurs - last orders 10pm. Really busy and bustling place even mid-week! Very cosy but incredibly noisy due to a particular group of rowdy people who were walking to and from the restaurant to the bar area over and over again, getting more and more intoxicated and apparently upsetting the lovely staff, too. One of them almost poured his drink over my husband's coat as he walked/staggered past! The manager apologised and asked if we wanted to move but we weren't staying long at all so it didn't bother us - but we did struggle to make each other heard, they were that loud! It was really kind of her, we were really grateful. The staff were really attentive but obviously harassed by this group and managed to keep their cool. Well done! I hope you at least got a big tip and they all left quietly eventually!. Thank you for having us. We'll definitely come again x
Really nice place with a lovely ambience, service was great, our waiter Jensen was fantastic. Potatoes were a little bit dry, and could've done with a bit more gravy, but these are minor quibbles and we'd definitely come again. Would recommend!
We booked for a family 60th birthday meal. On arrival the table was decorated along with a card which was a lovely touch. Our waitress Mariangela was faultless, very friendly and helpful. Everyone’s food was amazing and we all had a great time. We’ve been here before and the food is always excellent. Thank you for making it a great birthday meal.
Seriously picturesque. Never been before. Beautifully quiet location 2 mins from Junction 8 M61. Outside seating areas were 'taped off' which was a shame as we wanted to sit outside however...very nice inside, Sunday lunch time & was busy should've reserved but we managed to get in. Myself & Mrs P both went for the 28 day Sirloin with dressed courgette & Rocket salad, chips with sides of sautèd mushrooms & onion rings...washed down with draught Peroni. Delicious meals although the salad wasn't my first choice but still tasty. Steaks were 'bob on' tender, juicy & full of flavour well worth the price. Service was quick, waitress was very attentive & overall a great visit. Highly recommended & definitely worth both 5 ***** & a return visit.
Delicious lunch. I chose the vegan flat bread and my husband had the steak baguette. I was asked if I was vegan which I’m not, but I was given the option of how I wanted my chips cooked. Malthouse farm never disappoints the food is always spot on
A very upscale pub with a nice restaurant. Entre prices are mid-range, food is good and fresh and everyone was helpful and welcoming. The restaurant is right on the canal so the views are gorgeous and you can go for a scenic walk after a delicious meal! We will be returning for sure!
We've been visiting Malthouse Farm for 20 years and have always had a great experience. Ahmet has served us for many years and he is the best! I had the wild boar burger which was delicious.
What can I say about the Malthouse Farm, this is the second time myself and my husband have stayed at the hotel and used the pub for meals and drinks. The staff are friendly and helpful , there is a lot of choice for food, the food is cooked to perfection and plentiful. The drinks selection is also very varied. The outside drinking area is clean and very pretty. Thank you again for a lovely weekend spent with yourselves we will be back.
Loved this pub/restaurant. Lots of fresh flowers everywhere. Very dog friendly with pup stops in 3 places stocked with treats, water and poo bags. Food delicious. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. It was so clean, every surface gleaming. Beautiful indoor and outdoor space. Ample parking.
