It's probably the only Filipino restaurant in Ireland. I enjoyed the experience of trying to something new although the food choices are limited. It is a buffet restaurant with about 8 dishes to try. I enjoyed the dishes recommended by the staff. Especially the sprig rolls and battered chicken. The other dishes weren't my favourite and would probably suit people who grew up eating them. Cool to have an opportunity to experience something different and happy that there's a Filipino restaurant in Dublin.
Arrived at Makati Avenue for lunch at 12 on a thrusday. For €11 I expected a lot of food from a buffet. There was probably around 10 dishes, including rice. Whilst the dishes tasted good, the complete lack of variety makes it harder for me to rate this any higher. Halo-halo was served as dessert, but there wasn't any other choice. The halo-halo itself was pretty nice, but does it justify the price and pack of options for mains and dessert? Probably not 3/5 it was decent but not great.
I’ve only been here once, but was shocked by the price value ratio. I am willing to pay 3 times or even 5 times the money to have the food. Exotic, worth a try, the drink is very special, one of it being coconut milk with cucumber or watermelon juice in it, very refreshing and also rich in flavor. Impressed.
Makati Avenue seems to be the only Filipino restaurant in Dublin and being Filipino myself, I thought I would give it a shot with my partner who is Irish. From previous reviews and photos, it looked standard and taste was standard too but hear me out, it is absolutely authentic and home-style family cooking. It felt like I was in the Philippines. It was noon when we visited an empty restaurant but more and more Filipinos entered during our meal, heading straight to the buffet. Each of them seemed to be regulars and spoke Tagalog to each other. It is buffet-style but not many very options. Options included both regular steamed and garlic rice, pancit, pinakbet, bulalo, dinuguan, fried chicken, fried fish lumpia, and etc. However, for £11 which included a drink or halo-halo it is very worth it. I understand how those unfamiliar with the culture and cuisine may feel awkward about dining here but the only woman on the floor was very welcoming and happy to help. She even gave us a free bowl of Buko Pandan, something my own mother makes very often at home for special occasions. My partner who has only had Filipino food twice before thought it was delicious. I hope the very best for this family business.
Place have a nice Filipino in origin homey feel. What makes it worthwhile is the all too nice and welcoming staff. Nice for a very casual freshly made buffet lunch on the spot or made to order and take away when you are on the go.
I have tried philippines food for the first time. I really enjoyed it . the buffet price is 6 euro on first and 3rd sunday of the month. when i went there was nice pork dishes. I would recommend this restaurant if you really want to try authentic philippino food.
I was trying to communicate via call and messenger messages for inquiry about making a reservation. We are a Filipino tourist group of 33 people from Washington, DC/NYC and the website's pictures lacking in detail in regards to approximate capacity for seating. However the number listed on the website, Google, and Facebook, and Yelp is the same number that has been indicated to be disconnected. Mind you that is FOUR public networks. I'm sincerely disappointed and genuinely unsatisfied for the incorrect information provided and can only assume that this restaurant is no longer an establishment or even in business anymore. BUT, if you are still in business and have not updated your business information on any of the involved networks, then take care of it, because you just lost good business. I do wish we had the opportunity to taste, the good reviews made the food sound enticing. Oh well our loss and yours as well. INGAT!
Food is not that nice, plus the buffet serving does not look pleasing. Hopefully they will improve on this since this is the only Filipino style buffet here in Ireland.
