"Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders village of St Boswells, we like to think of The Mainstreet Trading Company as a destination in itself. Back in 2008 we renovated a former auction house, to create a light and airy space filled with books and the smell of coffee. In 2012, work was completed in the barn behind the main shop to create Mainstreet Deli & Home, launched by Tom Kitchin. 2018 marked our 10th birthday at Mainstreet, we had an amazing year, culminating in winning Britain’s Best Small Shop."

Lovely cafe / deli / bookshop. We regularly go for coffee or lunch and for other purchases eg bread, beer, spices. Visiting friends and family are happy when we take them here. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Soups and quiches are particularly tasty. Home store can be a little pricey but good for random gifts
Fantastic bookshop and cafe. Great selection of books and great kids section. Two small under stair pods for children to read in. Cafe was nice, soups fresh and well made. We'll worth dropping in. Loved the picture board with authors who have visited. This is a bookshop the way they should be.
Such a warm welcome from all the staff. Delicious cakes, traybakes, scones, cherry ones are so good. Gluten free products. Lots if books to have a look at . Would highly recommend this establishment .
Lovely bookshop with cafe, deli and homeward shop attached. Not a massive selection of books but there's usually something I want. The cafe is great with soups and sandwiches on offer plus excellent cakes and coffee. We live in Edinburgh but prefer to come here as it's quieter, you can go for walks nearby and we're supporting a small business. Oh, and it's dog friendly which is a bonus!

Lovely cafe with really tasty ploughman's cheddar sandwich and soup. The deli and shop had some unusual products you don't see elsewhere. Well worth visiting.
First time in here today. What an amazing bookshop & cafe! The cheese scones were delicious and fresh too. Staff were all really nice as well.
Very nice , quaint bookstore, they do great cakes and Drinks, but no food until midday, so it seemed. Very welcoming.
Great wee place for coffee or a snack and to browse the books or visit the deli & shop at the rear.
Very nice bookshop and cafe. Bookshop has a fine selection of books and food at cafe was good. Additionally there is a deli with friendly service and in particular a good wine selection.
