My sister and I have just checked out of Wigwam 3, just booked to stay for the 1 night as we had a concert in Edinburgh to attend. Really enjoyed our stay, very homely and has a fantastic view. The shower was a bit HOT or too cold but other than that, nothing to report home about. Thank you so much! I’ll be back for sure, think I’ll stay in the helicopter next time
Fantastic stay with Louise & Martin. Seamless check in and wonderful accommodation. Our base for the MacMillan Migthy Hike the wee pod had everything we needed. I had the best nights sleep in ages too! So much to see and do, great pub close by in village offering fab meals. I’m looking to book again and tackle a Munro or two while I’m there. Or maybe I might sit by the fire out and admire the view. Thanks guys, great place.
On our way up to the highlands from England, we decided to stay in a Mains Farm Wigwam - we loved it! Fantastic, expansive views on the countryside. Very peaceful location. We didn't stay in the Helicopter, but it looked super impressive! There's so many options to walk and run nearby. We we to a local pub Lion and Unicorn which was 5-10 minutes walk away. Fully recommended. Rooms: The wigwam itself was a little compact, but provided all the comfort that we needed. Walkability: The site and surrounding area is relatively flat, and the main street is 5 minute walk away at the most. Food & drinks: The Wigwam itself is self-catered, but there's a local pub called the Lion and Unicorn which served delicious food and drink
This place is amazing. Breathtaking views. Pod was clean, great having a fridge as well as two ring hob micro and toaster. We sat outside with the girls at the fire pit toasting marshmallows then dipping then in chocolate sauce. Mmmmm it was bliss. Great place for families. Park next to us was brilliant for the kids. Duck & Unicorn restaurant which was a five mins walk was brilliant. The food was superb. Will definitely go back for another stay. Thank you
We booked the helicopter for the last night of a 10 day trip to do the NC500 in a hired campervan and I was very keen to experience it as I used to work on Sea King's in the RAF. It was very hard to book as the website would not let me book the helicopter, so I tried to call the site. They never answer the phone!! Eventually they called me back and I booked it. £170 seemed like alot for one night but we decided to go for it and then watched the conversion on George Clarkes Amazing Spaces. It looked amazing! Unfortunately while we were on our trip our van broke down and I had to contact the host to let him know that we might not be able to make it. Once again it was hard to make contact but he eventually picked up! We managed to arrange a hire car and we eventually arrived at the site at 10pm and we were greeted by Paul. He handed me a key and that was it?! We were not shown to the accommodation and having found out how to get in, it took us a while to find the light switches and the first thing we noticed was how cold it was inside? We worked out how to turn the heater on and used the microwave to heat up a very late dinner! There were no wine glasses so we used the only two glasses that were tall tumblers?! The inside of the helicopter looked dirty and the blind in the bathroom was mouldy. The white silicone behind the sink had black mould and there was no bin in the kitchen area? We decided to get some sleep and the bedding was under the sofa bed in a bag. We had to put the duvet cover on and the pillowcases and the bed was sort of comfortable but it is just soft sponge with a grey rubber cover. The next morning I had a good look around in daylight and the helicopter is looking unloved and very tired. It is going green and there was moss growing on the flotation bag cover close to the main steps. The steps were slippery as the non slip paint has long since gone and the tail wheel tyre is flat. The BBQ was falling to bits the handle for the lid was underneath and when I opened it there were old coals in water and old fat inside the lid! The firepit was full of unburnt charred logs and rubbish. We had arranged a late check out but we had a coffee and left. The rest of the site looked alright, but there is a Twin Pioneer opposite the helicopter that has been fenced off and behind it a pile of rubbish? Looks like another conversion has been started but abandoned? There is also a lifeboat that is sat in a hole full of water, and this is covered in green moss and looking like it has also been abandoned?! That end of the site looks like a scrapyard! So basically we paid £170 for a night of Luxury Glamping and what we got was a very tired and cold helicopter that had no towels, no teatowel, no rubbish bin and a pullout sofabed! What an absolutely dissapointing experience and a complete rip-off!!!! £170 in Northumberland would get me one night in a luxury hotel with breakfast! The pictures on the website bear absolutely no resemblance to what it actually is and the conversion that was aired on TV is nothing like the real thing now!! I emailed Mains Farm to complain about the appalling experience and to date I have heard nothing back?!! DO NOT waste your hard earned money on the experience!!!!
What a wonderful campsite operating within an active farm. Walking distance to the village with 2 pubs and a spiritual well by a church. Good facilities. Would recommend. Walkability: Close to a large river. Unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
The wigwams where cosy and comfortable the site its self was close to all attractions. The view from the wigwam was beautiful. Very friendly service and very helpful.Rooms: 5/5
Stunning location. Possibly heading for refurb time but we loved our stay nonetheless.Rooms: 4/5
Nice quite spot with great views. Pod 'did what is said on the tin'. Nice and clean. Good for the local pub / restaurant The Lion and Unicorn highly recommended safari Park, Stirling etc. Only gripe is those 'comfortable mattresses ' aren't!! They're too thin meaning your body rests in the wooden base and aches!! Otherwise all good Nearby activities: Safari Park. Stirling Castle
Brilliant place to stay, dog friendly was a real bonusRooms: 5/5
