We were greeted by very friendly staff. As we are members of Best Western they upgraded us to a mini suite. The room was clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant The only negative thing we can say about this hotel is if you do not like to eat with the television blaring you had better eat elsewhere. Our overall experience was great and we will use this hotel again.
Nice hotel, friendly staff and well turned-out rooms. Nice shower especially. The evening meal we had was lovely and the breakfast was a decent buffet. WiFi was fast enough to stream a film and I had a full 4G signal on EE despite the hotel being out in the countryside. So why not 5 stars? Only a couple of issues, the air-con only worked for heat and the rooms aren't very soundproofed so I was a bit disturbed at night by some machinery noise close to my room. Overall very nice though, I'll stay again.
Great wedding venue however the room #10 had serious damp damage behind the door & ceiling. With a baby in the room this was a concern. Room was clean. Shower temperature control did not work properly & missing a button. Would be a good hotel if rooms were maintained better
Booked a family roast over the phone but when we arrived our party of 8 was not catered for. The receptionist couldn't have been less helpful if she'd tried. We ended up sitting in the garden which was not a very clean area. The tables were dirty but the waiter covered ours with a cloth. The food was not that good. Beef stringy and chewy. Yorkshires overcooked and vegetables greasy. Our table was not cleared from plates during the 2 hrs we were there and the toilets were also not that clean. Can honestly say this restaurant isn't one we would go back to or recommend.
The standard of the room we had was excellent, spacious both in the bedroom and bathroom, with a a veranda overlooking the golf course. Slightly disappointed with the 'restaurant', which is basically the lounge bar area. A more formal dining experience and this would have been 5 stars.
Stayed here as part of a wedding party the night before. Really lovely staff, wedding food was very nice. Bar food was nice but overpriced and seriously lacking in ingredients. My room was so hot at night, with a tiny window and fan with a broken switch that didn't help the situation. The morning was followed by a scorching hot shower as the thermostat was stuck. If you like rock hard mattresses. This is the hotel for you. If like me they cause pain and discomfort I suggest staying somewhere else. The bridal suite however was beautiful and spacious and clearly recently updated. Breakfast was intimate in a small room. Food was cooked to order for us as we asked for different eggs and veggie sausages which were literally veggies, but surprisingly tasty. the meat eaters were raving about the pork sausages. Overall it was a friendly stay here a wonderful wedding but I wouldn't stay again, needs updating and fixing up and rooms made comfortable and broken things fixed. We stayed at the holiday Inn the night of the wedding as the price for the best western was very expensive. I'm glad we did, I got a good night sleep after my night sleeping on a rock in a sauna. Sorry best western.
Unfortunately we booked a non refundable room otherwise we would have cancelled. We booked this hotel as we were attending a family event. We had planned to use the 'spa' facilities advertised. We had originally planned to meet family for a meal here prior to our event. After we booked we discovered that the spa facilities consisted of a male sauna and the restaurant was a bar menu. My partner rang up to complain as the hotel had also not even taken payment and no one had contacted us to say why. in total my partner had to phone 3 times before payment was taken. When we arrived the hotel reception was lovely however the bar was dated and our room had what looked like fire damage on the door. We were woken at 7am by a loud party and then again at 9am by hoovering outside our room on a Sunday morning. We had planned to have breakfast but decided to give it a miss so couldnt comment on the food. We got a drink at the bar and was made to feel a pain as I had given £1.70 in change and they had to count it! As a place to literally sleep it was very overpriced. It is unlikely we will stay in a best western again.
I spent new year's eve here with a group of friends. The event was well managed with good food and excellent staff. In particular I would commend Diane, Grace and the lady on reception. They made the whole experience even more enjoyable. In addition our room was very nice with a very comfortable bed.
Dirty, dilapidated and to be avoided. Dirty crockery in the tea set and few stray hairs from the previous occupant in the shower cubicle did not inspire confidence in our room. The wardrobe hanging space was only half length because of a shelf in the cupboard. Our air conditioner was wired to a two pin plug through a shaving adapter plugged into the wall. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t work, which led to a very hot and uncomfortable night’s sleep. The list goes on. For £150 per night on a room-only basis, this is simply unacceptable. Breakfast is served in a dimly-lit room and left everything to be desired. Service was half-hearted at best - no menus offered and no options explained. Tea was just a pot of warm water, you had to find your own tea bags. Coffee was served with no milk on the side, we were not even asked if we wanted milk. The cooked breakfast was extremely greasy - more truck stop than country hotel - and dirty glasses suggest that the dishwashers could do with a good clean and a fresh supply of rinse aid. The hotel bills itself as four star but fails to meet that standard on any measure. I would not recommend staying here to anyone.
Perfect hotel and club house for 1 night and 2 rounds of golf. Hotel rooms were very modern and extremely clean. The lobby and bar were ok but just a little tired looking. The food was excellent, very well presented and lot of good choice. The golf course was a very good test of golf. Lots of water rough and good undulating greens making it a good test for all levels of golfer.
