Got seafood chowder and it was delicious, 10/10. Great place to stop and eat, if your ever down Newcastle direction.
Absolutely amazing food! This caramel espresso martini was brilliant, it would have been so wonderful for brunch. My parents and I went for Sunday dinner and had the stuffed leg of lamb. The portion sizes were so generous and the food full of taste. Photographer is the chicken liver parfait in homemade wheaten bread with added treacle - simply beautiful.
Had a meal yesterday with my wife. My wife had stuffed lamb and I the roast beef. I can’t enthuse enough. The meat was delicious so well cooked and generous portions. A selection of well cooked seasonal veg, broccoli cauliflower cabbage carrots , delicious. The meats were served on a bed of root veg. Highly recommend.
One of my absolute favourite places to eat. The atmosphere is cosy/homely, the food is fabulous and the staff are a friendly bunch. The portions are huge, they could be smaller and still be more than enough. I have yet to try something that I don't enjoy the seafood chowder is something else - yum.
Enjoyed a wonderful lunch, portions were great. Staff were very friendly, would definitely recommend anyone to come for a wee visit
The food here is fantastic. Huge quantities and great quality for a good price. We were also very impressed with how well they have followed covid restrictions. The tables are properly spaced apart with open windows. We haven't really been eating indoors at restaurants yet but I had no concerns eating here. Staff were polite and very helpful. When we took the baby outside to get him to sleep, they offered to keep my husband's food warm until he returned. Would love to come again!
Absolutely fantastic service and food for a table of 4 plus a 2 year old. The service for the 2 year old made him feel very special as they brought him out his own mash and veg bowl and then a special cake and ice cream for afters. The Guinness was especially good
Just had Sunday lunch at the Maghera Inn with my husband, two little ones and dog outside seating area. I honestly couldn't speak higher of the food and the service. Staff were so kind and attentive to us all and the dinner was full of flavour and perfectly cooked :- Thank you
Decent grub, decent Guinness. Bar is cute, but if you want a drink before food, arrive early, they are pushy I mean really pushy to get you in and out of the table. 4 mentions in 5 minutes about going to table and the bill came within 10 seconds of asking for it, almost as if the ratio of their convenience vs your enjoyment is weighted about 95:5 in wrong direction. Go for drinks only, or food only, not a relaxing place to mix them.
Perfect rural pub with lovely food and great service.
