Yet another great meal at Maenan Abbey. Always in for great service, friendly staff and even better meal. Never had a bad meal here hoping this never changes and would always recommend anyone to go visit here for a meal. Best to book as it can get busy! Sunday meal options there is always a roast meat of some kind: generally beef, lamb or turkey… and along comes the sides of vegetables roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli which are done just right.
Stayed here for 1 night for a six o'clock start Sunday morning. Stayed in Room 5, above the room is another room with a jacuzzi which switched on sounds like a generator in your room below. Told the manger, response was " hopefully will turn off soon" Midnight when it went quite. Definitely would never return and also been taken off our work recommendations.
The Abbey has lots of character and history. A beautiful place in an ideal setting especially if you are a biker . I love that hotel is dog friendly O and the food was fantastic Rooms: 5/5
Never stayed for a night, but we do visit a couple of times a year for the wonderful food, hospitality, and it's dog friendly all at a reasonable priceService: 5/5
Enjoyed our short stay at Maenan Abbey. Grandiose staircase upon first arrival. All staff were welcoming and hospitable Locally sourced lamb was expertly cooked. Overall whole building does need modernising but staff and beautiful grounds made up for this.Rooms: 4/5
A mixed bag. It's a charming hotel but it does need quite a lot of attention. Really nice entrance / lobby. We were sat in the dining room right next to a crudely re papered wall with a whopping spiders web on it. Staff were friendly enough but the wait for the evening meal was laughably long. 45 mins from ordering to receiving the starter which was a bit of cheese on a plate. We almost recieved the wrong mains as we were waiting for our starter. Very confusing. All in all 2 hours from sitting down to finishing meal. Our room was fitted with a whirlpool bath which was good a bit tatty but worked and was nice to sit in. The toilet, or something, was leaking slightly onto the floor and the room was boiling hot. The 4 poster bed looked like it had seen better days and the style was nice/ interesting. Big telly in the room which had netflix on it apparently, never put it on. At breakfast the next day, my girlfriend asked what the vegetarian options were, she was told "whatevers on the menu that doesn't have meat in it", which although is quite funny, doesn't really help and she ended up with a croissant. The location is good, lovely little town llanwrst nearby which we enjoyed lunch in and liked pottering about around the shops. I'd describe it as quirky and I probably would stay there again if I was in the area which I probably won't be. The room and the meal came to 230 quid or so which might have been alright if it was bang on across the board.
Central heating and hot water not brilliant and food was ok. I would like to thank the warm and bubbly lady that served us our breakfast , she was very welcoming.Rooms: 2/5
I would say its a great place where to stay. Lovely staff good food Only pillows are no good and rooms ar a bit dusty and no toilets supply's. Other wise I really like look of the rooms and building.. also they have fireplace which is super cool.Rooms: 4/5
My Boyfriend and I visited Maenan abbey early July 2022 for one night on a whistle stop tour of England and Wales on the bikes we loved it so much we booked again for august 2022 for longer than one night! We’ve just had a fantastic 5 day break there exploring the area. There is lots to do and visit. The staff were so friendly and would go above and beyond for you! The rooms are decorated beautifully and I can’t wait to go back again! The food was incredible, always cooked to perfection and for a girl who isn’t too fussed about lamb… I had it twice during the stay, locally sourced too! I already miss David and his furry friends! ‍‍
Had a weeks stay here and yes there's few little decorative bits that could be improved but it is a 3,* hotel that focuses on a family and pet friendly environment with a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The food was great, the room was lovely and the staff are amazing. Dave in particular was an amazing host and it felt like a home from home. We felt very welcome. Also Karen, is fantastic and very friendly. We felt very comfortable and cared for. Would definitely recommend
