Found this hidden gem really close to my Hotel near Heathrow Airport, no wanting to eat at the hotel for no particular reason I started looking on Maps for a place nearby and found this place about a ten 10 minute walk from where I was staying. The place is divided into the bakery and restaurant, with separate entrances, it's a small place so I guess if you come at a peak time it will be full in no time. The food was outstanding and the service was great, loved everything about the place. Definitely recommend.
Really good restaurant. The cod fish Bacalhau a Madeirinhas was amazing and melted in my mouth. The skewers and the "bitoque" were also great. The staff is also five stars and they speak both Portuguese and English. Well worth a visit. I do advise to book before going as it is a small restaurant. Vegetarian options: The special bread bolo do caco seems to have butter but is actually Vegan. There are also Vegetarian and probably vegan options available for the main and dessert. Parking: It's hard to park near the restaurant, but well worth walking a bit more.
A Portuguese restaurant. I liked the food. It was so good. I tried three different desserts and they are all my favorites. There’s a café with the same name at the other corner of the building. If you find it doesn’t look like a restaurant, get to the other side. There’s a supermarket called Supermarket in between the two doors.
Grilled sea bass and grilled pork ribs were terrific. Worth the walk from the hotel, and turned this cancelled flight day around for us. Fun, authentic, friendly neighborhood for a great dinner out.
Delicious food, home cooked feeling when you come here always! The beer is a nice Portuguese one. I had the octopus and pork ribs. Enjoyed them both throughly! The staff is kind and very attentive. Head here for a treat to your taste buds!
Cozy little gem. Very friendly service and lovely tasty pastries. Even though crust of the pasteis de nata lost some crunchiness, the custard was rich and creamy. The almond, custard yes I love custard, and cinnamon pastry was heartwarming in the winter morning. The toastie was simple but hearty, with unbeatable price. Many thanks for suggesting we order only one toastie! Definitely worth the easy walk from the hotel and skipping the reportedly dreadful reheated frozen food there. Also learned a bit about the Madeira region from wiki and travel blogs; —- Back again two months later! This is mostly the reason why I chose to stay around Heathrow for an early flight. Octopus was nicely cooked. Tender, springy. The seasoning was simple, but the garlicky savory flavor was great. Came with good portion of cooked vegetables and lovely potatoes. Octopus is among the most expensive menu items but definitely worth it. The whole dinner was less than 30 GBP. I had a long struggle between octopus and pork ribs and other traditional stews. Will definitely come back for them; Again, the place is small, busy, but not crowded thanks to the fast service. Tried “Chinese lady”/white coffee this time. really interested to know more about the origin of the name, which seems to be particular to the region. The pastries are irresistible. Had a few to go for late night snacks and tomorrow breakfast, but the chicken pear was gone as soon as I arrived at my hotel… beautifully spiced and delicious even eaten cold. Ham cheese pocket is probably better eaten warm, as the cheese got solid in this weather. Still tasty though. And what’s better than a pastel de nata at the gates? Eventually I’ll try them all
What a great place. it was 5 mins walk from where we were staying and the perfect find. The food, service and staff were spot on. An amazing menu, wanted to try everything as it all looked and sounded so nice. It was a great choice, could not fault the food or price. Look forward to being this way again.
It’s a restaurant that provides far more than you might expect from the outside. The staff are friendly and the food is super fresh, a surprising find in the random back streets of the airport! The Portuguese tarts are amazing.
FEBRAS NA BRASA € 13.5 Grilled Pork Steak With Chips, Rice & Egg The portion of the food will definitely satisfy your stomach. The pork was a bit salty but in general was fine. But I forgot to drop by the cafe just next to the restaurant
Besides serving traditional Portuguese food, also Portugess meals with chips added. Service and food are excellent. Price is unexpected low. Busy restaurant and Portugess groceries next door with take away service. Seasonal items available too
