Lovely, friendly tearoom by the canal. There are lots of seats outside including many with cover/shelter and a handful inside. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. It's always popular, which is a good sign! Food: 5/5
Our first visit, which was for lunch with my parents and we were extremely impressed. The place was immaculate, staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was well cooked and presented. A steady flow of people arrived during our visit. There was four of us on this visit and we had jacket potato with tuna, winter vegetable soup and blue cheese with bacon beefburgers. The staff seemed willing to assist with any diet requests, as some other customers ordered drinks with different milk types such as coconut milk and this was not a problem. After lunch we treated ourselves to their tempting cakes and again we were very impressed. As it was January and a bit chilly we ate indoors, but in the milder months there is extensive outside eating/garden area available with views directly onto the canal. We will definitely be returning to this tearoom.
I can't rate Mad Hatter's highly enough. It is one of Derby's best tearooms. It's great value for money, the food and drinks are all prepared to perfection and service is excellent. The homemade cakes will blow you away. Sitting outside by the canal in the morning sunshine is wonderful.Food: 5/5

My daughter took me here for Mothers day tea and cake. I had bakewell cake it was delicious. The cakes are big portions. The staff were very helpful and lovely. Its beside the canal so lovely if the weather is dry. Parking: The parking is behind the tea room. There is an indian resturant in the same place.
