Macmillan Academy is an academy in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, England. The school was founded in 1989 as the Macmillan City Technology College, one of the first of 15 City Technology Colleges established in England. Its initial sponsors were the Macmillan Trust, a charity run by Macmillan Publishers, The school converted to academy status in 2006. An Ofsted inspection in 2007 rated the school as outstanding. In 2013 the school received a downgraded good judgement.

I have been attending this school for 4 years now and it's utterly depressing. I have been bullied numerous amounts of time yet the teachers have done nothing whatsoever about it. The staff in this school treat the students unfairly and disrespectfully as all the rules get broken constantly by the staff such as: being late, having fizzy drinks and even smoking! (Smoking is awfull and should be illegal but it's hypocritical if a teacher is isolating students for smoking yet they smoke on the school grounds to, I do not smoke or want to but this issue should be adressed properly as it's a huge health hazard).The dinner ladies smoke outside of the school gates just before they open the cantine for lunch! It's disgusting. Also some of the teachers just print off work other members of staff had produced and they just make a student hand them out and complete it for the whole lesson while that teacher is sat back drinking fizzy drinks and on the phone! Another thing about Macmillan, the students are punished for stupid reasons like disagreeing with a member of staff and not wearing a blazer. Like what! Seriously, there are still way worse things you can get in trouble for however I can't put them in this review as it would put off the parents of the children who would like to attend, even though Macmillan will let any student into the school as they get up to £9000 a year for one student, ONE! There is about 1000 students in Macmillan and £9000 for each one of them for the money to be spent on ridiculas school trips and sport related things like pitches and expensive equipment when the students don't have access to most of the equipment. My final bit of criticism for the school is to follow the rules YOU MADE! Also I'd like to adress the fact that most of the teachers do not control the class and it justs disrupts the education of the students who care to learn as the teachers just scream and shout (which does not help, shouting should be classed as a form of abuse as it's scary and unnessecery. So if you are thinking of your child attending this school, just make sure that your child will get the education and skills they will need to develop further.

Absolutely terrible. My son has been bullied and teachers response is well pretty much none existent.
