The company is a contractor for the production of clothing for different brands and does not recognize its responsibility. In particular, Nigel Cabourn from Ventile fabric is produced by Mackintosh. They refuse to repair or change their products. I have confirmation letters from the Mackintosh company with a disclaimer.
If you want a raincoat that will keep the rain out and last a lifetime Macintosh is really the only way to go. Thankfully they've updated their designs while keeping the classic tried and tested vulcanised cotton / wool fabric. Staff are well trained and helpful and despite the big price it really is worth remembering that once you own a Macintosh they will happily repair anything and everything for the rest of your or the coat's life.
Oh my goodness if only Mac would shout about their quality and workmanship, Burberry wouldn’t be around! Mackintosh was the pioneer in waterproof trench coats, hence the word Mac to describe a typical trench that we wear today. Strangely I saw their shop in Burlington Arcade about 2 years ago but it disappeared. I thought the brand died! Well, thanks to their new marketing I suspect? I read about them during the Dec sale. I called them in London and visited the store on Conduit St, and was bowled over by their coats. Their 40% sale didn’t hurt either. I bought their short thigh length wool trench coat on ‘ink’ colour. It’s a kind of brighter navy blue. I wanted the military green but they were sold out in my size. I also bought my partner the latest hottest colour - camel - pea coat. It feels so luxurious and soft. I looked at their ‘Burberry’ style trench in honey but they were all gone by the time I got there. At about 1/3 of the price of a typical Burberry Mackintosh offers the best Made In England quality and style I haven’t seen for a long time. Well done.
