Castle is a ruin and I assume debris prevents visitors getting too close. Jonathan's Cave was better for accessing. Coast is beautiful but rocky and slippy and difficult under foot. A steep approach - nice for a quick visit but suitable footwear needed.

Ruined castle short way from the road. Beautiful red sandstone. 4 caves nearby. Amazing view over the bay.
First Castle in Scotland and was nice to look around the sandstone caves are interesting to view too
Small ruin at the top of the hill above some of the caves, in a state of disrepair, but still standing well. There's a bench for a picnic at the top with it and there is access from the cemetery just behind as there are some steps up and down to the beach.
Not much left of the old castle now but a nice place to visit along wuthe the caves that are below it fantastic views of nearly all of the river Forth rugged beaches plenty parking in and around the villageWait timeNo wait
The ruins were cool. Signs explicitly say do not enter the site but it’s clear from other reviews that people walk right in. Would I go back? Probably. You can bring dogs.
Amazing history around this little place. The castle sits above caves that contain the largest collection of pictish carvings in europe
Worth a walk up the cliff to see it.
It's just a ruined castle so not sure how a star rating is relevant. Good views of the coast. You need to do a bit of cross country squelching to get to the castle. Nice, if steep, walk down to the beach and the caves
