The Ghausia Mosque and Welfare Association Have Embarked On A New Project To Build a Masjid And Multi Purpose Hall Facility. This Will Include Imam's Room, A Mortuary, Offices And An Abolutions Area. The Lye Ghausia Jamia Masjid was opened in 1978 initially for a small community of Pakistani's who had settled in Lye Cross. It has now expanded to a larger community catering for individuals from all over the world. The reason for building a larger Masjid is quite simply to facilitate the needs of the local Muslim community, which the current Masjid cannot accomodate at the moment especially on Eid and Friday prayers. The new Masjid would increase the capacity to 1500 people, 500 of which will be Allocated for Women. The Masjid has never asked for or received any public money and will be self funded. Therefore the majority of the funding has come from donations by the generous Muslim community, with large amounts raised each year during the blessed month of Ramadan.
