Lydgate house is a beautiful property situated in the heart of Dartmoor. It is the perfect place to unwind which has direct access to various walks on the Moor. The rooms are very clean and stylish. The breakfasts are delicious, freshly cooked with high quality ingredients, served in the conservatory which has stunning views. The dinners are also delicious and healthy.nThe hosts Sarah, John and Kelly are all very friendly and attentive, and cater for any diet requirements. This was our 4th time here, and won't be the last, as each visit is a very special treat. Thank you all for spoiling us, and we look forward to seeing you all again.
Very nice setup and most friendly.nThis is a small, cosy, family run hotel.nThe food was faultless.nThe room we had was nothing exceptional but you don't go to Dartmoor to stay in a room.
We enjoyed our stay a great deal - it was an anniversary weekend and we were very well looked after. This is not a corporate hotel, but very individual. The team made us feel welcome and seemed genuinely interested in us having a good stay.
Sarah,John & Kelly made me extremely welcome for my 4 night stay at this charming Country house hotel. It's quiet location in the centre of Dartmoor makes it a very peaceful place and the only sound from my bedroom window was that of the nearby river. The lounge is comfortable and inviting and dining room light and airy. Food was good and Sarah, John & Kelly were very friendly and helpful. With only 6 rooms, it is a more intimate stay than the larger hotels. I would recommend and I will return
I stayed for 2 nights on my own as working in the area. Felt like I was staying with friends; Sarah, John and Kelly pitch everything just right, friendly and helpful and chatty but never intrusive. The small hotel is very comfortable and quirky in a great way. The cooking is excellent, nice touches like fresh cherry tomatoes and homemade jam at breakfast. Tried Sea Bass one night and a brilliant Beef pie the other, both served with lots of perfectly cooked fresh veg. Location is great as right in the middle of Dartmoor but you drop down into a really pretty river valley with a beautiful pool just below the hotel. Great walking right from the hotel. Hope to visit again soon and have more time to explore.nShow less
