Really enjoyed visiting, even though the weather was terrible .. very nicely kept and enough information with no cost. Parking at the start of the lane was handy .. only a small ruin but touching history is always great .. really impressed with whoever cares for this castle.
This ruin is a nice little find. Free to walk around but there isn't much parking close by or any toilets. The remaining tower has metal fencing/barrier around it for safety reasons but they didn't do the best job with it. A lovely place for a picnic on a sunny day.
There is not much to see as it's mostly ruins. It's free, no toilets it's lovely to visit when you passing by to stop for picnic as its very quite, or just for break from driving, I would not recommend driving all the way to see it as its not worth it if you passing by yes stop have break and picnic other than that I would not bothered.
Definitely one for only the history buffs.nI loved clambering between walls only a few inches high. Lovely views from the banks around the edge.nSo much history happened here. Imagine being given Ludgershall castle as a wedding gift !nNo entrance fee, no facilities, just history.
Small amount of parking 10 cars?. All free. Entrance free. No facilities. It's not absolutely clear which is the way to get to the ruins as the English Heritage info board is half way between a road and a small gated path to the West ..important to us as my Father can't walk much. As it happens both work, but the road is easier and more direct. Not much left...a crumbling tower...some stone foundations..a few ditches...a house built across some of the ramparts....there's a very nice old tree! Maybe good to visit this and Old Sarum at the same time..
