Love battered burger supper. Husband really enjoyed and loved that it was proper sized chips. Only given 4 star as we purchased heinz mayo sachets and discovered they were out of date by quite a few month's.
Visiting elderly parents on Thursday evening decided to take in some food for them. Really disappointed, chips far too big and small portion of fish not our cup of tea even my parents didn’t like it .
Placed an order for collection. Arrived before stated time. Told they didn't take cards. Went for cash, returned at the collection time. Had to wait more than 20 minutes past the time the food was ordered for before getting it. Then it was only OK at best.
Chips were decent but the chip steak batter was 'flat', tough, & Very greasy. Actually, the worst chip steak I've ever had . Serving person was good though, and a very pleasant lad. Fix your batter recipe, please!!!
I was pleasantly surprised. It was my last port of call having failed to find a fish and chip shop open in three other villages. The shop itself wasn't particularly inspiring but the food was actually very nice indeed and I will use it again.
Without a doubt, the worst chippy I've ever been to!Food: 1/5
Worst food ever ... Don't worth a single pennie...Food: 1/5
Disappointed with the food provided. Out on the bike last night and kept away from the coast as the weather was better in land. I used to live in Lournie in my youth and this chipper used to be a favourite but that was 30-40 years ago. Things have changed!!! I was looking forward to the chips as they were chunky. Maybe the fat was old or the food was overcooked but it had a burnt taste. This chicken goujons and the scampi had the same taste. Everything was a little greasy. Running out of the scampi and the goujons as you bit into them. Looooooong wait on food so was expecting better. Really disappointing. Won't be back in a hurry.
Fish was lovely and fresh, chips were quite tasty and not greasy. Very friendly and professional staff. Prices, whilst not cheap, are quite competitive, particularly bearing in mind the service and also generous portion size. Also worth noting. That the premises seemed really clean.
The chips are great. Not your soggy fatty sort of chip but a crisp and 'home style' sort of chip that had various size and texture. The fish is fresh you can tell White as snow and had the texture that let it break open into flakes. Must admit the staff could try smile. The batter is crisp and light. First time I tried Haggis and it was nice. located half way up the high street so you can't get more local than that. No tables so get and go! But I did stand in the corner and ate out of tray like normal people do as others were served! it was cold outside. If you can try the 'Crown' Pub, not far away it's a nice place to sit after your grub.
