Such a nice place to spend the day with the family,it has plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the view of the lake. There is a visitor center that offers many things to do and of course has some food and drinks. There is also a self guided tour through the tunnels and on the view tower, will cost you 10 euros for an adult. I would say it is a bit too much for what you see, but for one time it is not that bad. Plus your tour ends of walking over the forest, on the bridge around the tree tops, so that kinda makes it worth it. But you don't have to pay anything if you just want to spend the day close to nature. Parking will cost you 4 euros for the day, but if you spend more than 20 euros in the visitor center then it is free. All overall recommended spot. Enjoy.
Really nice place to walk around. The big walk was amazing with so many flowers in bloom. The restaurant was not clean though and customers had to wipe their own tables. We had chicken wraps which were lovely and reasonably priced.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
We loved the place , even better with full sunshine The free parts of the park are great itself! We did a walk also , as well as inside 'exit' games - little pricey but worth it. We had a great day out.
I had a fabulous day on a bike trail in Lough Key Forest Park. I hired my electric bike at Electric Bike Trails in the Activity area. I got a great day for it & planned to go back the next day but it was pelting rain all day. The guy picked the perfect bike size for me and adjusted the saddle. He gave me a helmet and told me how to navigate the forest trail. It's really good value for money. I can't recommend it highly enough. The cafe in the Activity Area I was a bit disappointed with. It's just badly managed. It probably works really well when it's very busy but in the quiet times it's a bit of an unnecessary extra job for the customer. First you have to find a table & take a note of the number. You then have to walk through a cordoned area to see the menu to go back on yourself to place your order, take your cutlery & napkins and they didn't get the order right after all that. I think it was great expectations and mediocre service at best.
Lovely walks around lough derg. beautiful surroundings. Lovely cafe with stunning views unfortunately Food in the cafe is not great at all. Maybe bring a picnic apart from that highly recommended to visit.
Wonderful place to visit for the entire family especially if your pooch enjoys walking or you could take your bikes and have a lovely long cycle with your kids in safety and away from traffic. The Shannon cruisers Dock there too from further afield. Amazing walks, beautiful scenery. Great amenities too. Luckily Zipit is there too if you enjoy swinging through the trees at height Plenty of parking but it costs €4 for the entire day which is very cheap.
We stopped by for a little visit on the way. A large complex, very nicely arranged. We arrived in the middle of the week, out of season and just enjoyed the peace and nature.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Truly beautiful Had a wee SUP, the water was clean, still and clear. Had a wee go on the row boat and really enjoyable. Food was good, had a lovely coffee and bun. Full of flavour and enjoyable. Parking is good, plenty of spaces.
Was on the paid walk today which included tunnel and woodland treks. The woodland area was breathtaking but the true highlight was the tunnel. Only a minute into the tunnel and I came across a GHOST! A fantastic apparition of a girl who worked in the house before it burned down. Great experience for all however children may be somewhat spooked by the tower as it’s quite high and obviously the ghost aspect isn’t going to be appreciated for anyone who’s not a #truebeliever but, besides this, an enjoyable time had by all.
We went to visit Boda Borg and it was a really great experience. The people are so nice and helpful! After that we ate a burger outside and went for a walk in the forest. What a great environment!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
