Went to the hospital because of a migraine attack. I have chronic migraine so I know the drill when it comes to emergency care about these. I am from Chile and I’ve never had problems about getting the right medication or the doctors believing me there, here -unfortunately- that was not the case. I first got to the hospital crying in pain, they wouldn't give me anything until I gave them all of my information which was really difficult because I could barely talk due to the pain, the two friends I was with tried to help, but they obviously didn't know the answer to ALL the questions I was being asked. Then they said they would take my blood for exams, I had to tell the doctor/nurse I am not sure where my vein was because she count find it, all of this was crying in pain. I asked for the lights to be turned off as I am very sensitive to light when I have migraine attacks and it was only making my pain worse, but they denied and didn’t turn them off until hours later. I couldn’t get up to turn them off myself and they told my friends not to touch them. As it turns out I was also having a fever at the same time as the migraine attack, so they gave me a paracetamol pill for the fever and naproxen for the migraine, I’ve had both at the same time before so I know what they feel like and knew a simple pill would not help resolve it. I had previously told them that I had taken rizatriptan a few hours before getting to the hospital and that it had not work so the naproxen pill was not going to work either. However they insisted I take it and if it didn’t work they would get me an IV with a stronger painkiller, so I took it… but it didn’t help. My fever got better but my migraine hadn’t. At that point they sent another doctor, he didn’t believe I had a migraine so he was questing me the whole time, and I quote, he said “let’s suppose you actually have a migraine”. A couple of hours pass and they realize my heart rate was too high so they give me IV fluids, and that’s when I start feeling slightly better. But my migraine was still there. After the fluids ran out they just told me I tested positive for the flu and that I needed to leave because they needed the bed… the hospital was empty. I got home and went straight to bed, they didn't gave me anything to take, not even ibuprofen or an antiviral, and just told me to drink water, my fever came back just an hour later. I have never been treated like this in any hospital before. I’ve never had any problems with getting access to the right medication or being believed in the chronic disease I have been living with for since I was twelve. I am not sure if this a problem for the whole of Scotland or even the UK or it’s a problem unique to this hospital, regardless the case it’s really sad to see how badly you are treated at a place you are supposed to get help from. I came to Scotland to study Marine Science but now I am seriously considering transferring to another country because of this healthcare issue. I can’t trust that I won’t get another migraine attack that will take me to the hospital, but they don’t do anything to help. I really do not want to move, I love it here, my friends are awesome and I love my university but this is a big and serious issue, and it is for everyone who lives with a chronic illness.
Very helpful and friendly staff It was my first time in a British hospital and I don't have any complaints it was very clean the food was surprisingly very nice. I recommend if you need to get help. Thanks for taking good care of me

So, i was admitted to Oban Hospital Tuesday 20th Jan.nThe staff are absalutely amazing in Ward be. Friendly, funny and very happy.nMy nurse Michelle has been absolutely brilliant nothing is too much to ask and always has time to answer any questions you have.nnThe little orderly Zena! Little angel, kept me fed and watered even offering toast and tea. Such a sweetheart.nnNOT ALL HERO'S WEAR CAPES.
