A lovely huge expanse of water to swim in. I really love this place whether it's a solo swim or with friends. The lake is surrounded by beautiful trees and greenery and very peaceful. Having the M25 nearby isn't ideal but once you are out in the middle of the lake or around the other side of the island it is just gorgeous.nI love the fact that when you get in, you can't see the end of the lake, it is so far away. There is a real sense of freedom at Longside and if you want to do a fair distance you can and no problem being a leisurely swimmer there. There is space enough for everyone. Facilities are good, plenty of picnic tables, fire pits and loos and even a changing room and sometimes a sauna tent. There are also safety kayaks dotted around the lake. The place is very well managed and attracts nice people.
I’ve swam here a few times, calm peaceful beautiful water. Staff are so supportive and relaxed, making you feel welcome to stay and enjoy the space. Also tried paddle boarding with a group of us, kids and big kids loved it. Great safe space to learn how to fall off! Thank you Longside Team!
A wonderful lake for open water swimming especially as it has an island that you can swim around in the summer and earn a badge! The staff are extremely welcoming and your safety comes first. It has toilets and changing facilities as well as a variety of options for food depending on the day for after your swim. I started swimming here regularly just over a year ago and have enjoyed the changing seasons especially the breaking of the ice swims. It is a year around venue and a very good place to start and then develop your swim journey with the support of a very friendly community.
Absolutely gorgeous lake, a fantastic swim experience. It's run by a lovely couple who are always friendly and welcoming. A great safety team as well for any nervous swimmers.nI love that they also have events such as sauna and swim.nIf you're driving here make sure you put this in the sat Nav and don't just click on Longside Lake as it will tell you you've arrived at your destination when you're very much on the M25, 1 Longside Lake Lane, Egham TW20 8FA.nOnly downside for me is that it isn't closer to where I live.nPlease also do the whole lake swim more often we'd love more chances to do it.
An absolute delight of a lake to swim in. A variety of loops to choose from, and a round the island option available on certain days.nnBeautiful clean water, super friendly staff and a tuck shop available.
