Waterloo is a massive station that can take you to lots of places via train or underground. It is the best place to start your trip to London if coming from the south. The only thing I would say though is it is hard to navigate so be aware when coming of your train.
Now that the pandemic is here, the station isn’t as busy as before. The trains are pretty frequent and the station is clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. The station has places to shop and is pretty big. You can get to waterloo east or the underground easily. Overall, this station is very good.

One of the most famous train stations in the world. Shops, restaurants and cafes all around For a traveler definitely a must
Brilliantly setup... Even though it's one one of the oldest stations around...
It's clean and tidy but not so busy since the lockdown
So many people not wearing masks, in station and on trains. Noone policing it. They walk right past staff who just continue chatting to their pals and don't ask anyone to put a mask on.
