Excellent museum! Impressive pumping engines, particularly the larger ones. They run the machines in sequence so you get to see them all running. Small outside space with water play area is nice for kids. There is also a small garden at the front. Volunteer staff are all enthusiastic and they regularly have themed events to go to. The annual pass is good value. Very small parking area at front can be useful if you drive over. Nice few hours here for small children too. Food provision could be better.

Great museum for kids. Loads of interactive exhibits with buttons and wheels for younger kids, and for older kids some more thoughtful ones around water saving and the environment as well. The steam train ride is only a couple of mins each way but included in the price and kids loved it. The splash area outside looks great but we went in mid winter. Upgraded to an annual pass for 2 quid more which seemed worthwhile.

Got to see at least five working steam engines! What can be better than that? The engineers running the steam engines could have done a more enthusiastic job explaining the equipment, but the stars of the museum where the amazingly crafted engines. The downstairs exhibit on sewers and water distribution was very good.

I had a great time at this museum! Seeing the demonstrations of these huge steam engines in action is kind of awe-inspiring, but great fun. They've also got a forge on site which will do demonstrations as well. But my favorite might have been the mini steam train which is adorable. I will definitely come back some day.

Great museum. We had a lovely time. There was a free science talk on the day we went which my daughter loved. Cafe does good food as well. Try their homemade soups.
