A hotel in need of major refurbishment and improvement in service levels. The bedrooms are adequate, but are overdue an update - still shower curtains in the bathroom and cleaning could have been better. Service was slow, even asked for plaster on two occasions and never recieved it. Check-in process was smooth and straight forward though.
Was a very pleasant experience and the staff is friendly not all. Rooms are big and spacious. The only thing that i would comment on is that they charge money for the umbrella, its a small thing but its something you would expect from a 2/3 star hotel to charge for these stuff. Would be a good gesture considering the price i paid for 7 nights.
For the price, I couldn't complain. The staff at reception were friendly and it was a comfortable bed. The bathroom is tiny. I struggled to fit in the bath/shower and I'm on the thinner side. Having parking in Central London is a big bonus. The walls are thin. You can hear a lot but it's set back from the main road so it's not the worst.
Unfortunately the hotel service leaves much to be desired.nnEven with Ambassador status, I had to wait 3+ hours for the room to be readied.nnThe reception did not accept responsibility for delays, but instead were full of excuses - with an attitude - stating that the check-in time was 3pm even though it was 4:30.nnThe hotel is undergoing renovations - much needed but somewhat noisy - and the lobby is extremely dated and poorly maintained.nnThe rooms are a good size for London standards - and the price is tempting. But choose Sheraton on Park Lane if able which has a similar price point and is much better in every aspect service, politeness, elegance, food, rooms etc…..nnAfter much frustration, I contacted corporate and cancelled the reservation - and moved to another hotel.nnOnly when I canceled the reservation did the reception staff try to satisfy my needs - but I was not having it.nnThe staff tried to convince me to stay, and asked for a reason as to why I canceled. They even offered me the opportunity to speak to a manager. I stood firm in my cancellation.nnThey kept pressing for a reason so I shared that the reception staff attitude was the primary reason, and she vehemently defended her attitude which only further helped confirm my decision to leave.nnHaving moved hotels to another Marriott property, I was ecstatic with my choice to move.nnI had stayed at this Marriott 5 times before as the location is convenient even though not the greatest neighborhood, but … in the words of Winston Churchill…. never, never, never again.
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much. The location is excellent—walkable to Hyde Park and Tube. The team was friendly and helpful, and there was an expansive selection of options at breakfast and during the evening hors d’oeuvres, attentive servers . I also appreciated being recognized for my Marriott status. Would definitely stay again.
