I have been in this store on a few occasions when we holidayed in the area A few years back . It seemed to be a well equipped place and most helpful staff But it appears that things have changed a lot in the last five years. We were up in the Inverness area this week and I took the opportunity to go to Ullapool to fish at rhue near lighthouse whilst my wife took my son who has Learning difficulties to see the shops. They went into the lochbroom hardware store and were looking at toy figures which my son though he is twenty likes to collect .my wife was explaining to my son that it might be better if we looked For it in Inverness as it would be more than likely cheaper there as often remote Places like Ullapool are more expensive because of delivery costs etc. When suddenly a one of the sales people piped up"That's a lot of shite it's nae Ony dearer" my wife was annoyed that first it was a private conversation with my son and secondly it was very rude and my wife told her this .and was told "Its nae mint to be rude" but wife had enough of her and left. And as there is not much else shopping wise in Ullapool barring Tesco She was on the phone asking me to take her away from this place So I had driven 52 miles to get there had around 20 casts then drive 50 miles back to Inverness just because the nosy saleswoman can't keep her snout out Of personal conversations. People speak about the famous Highland hospitality Well don't expect it here well not from Tracy anyway.

Lochbroom Hardware shop is excellent! It has everything you could possibly need-especially if you are camping at nearby Loch Broom campsite! I was after some more robust tent pegs than the ones that came with my tent. The ground was so hard, it bent nearly all of them! The lovely lady that served me recommended large yellow plastic tent pegs. Yes, plastic! Brilliant! At 50p each, they were worth every penny! I had bought some of these years before, and I'd looked around the shop, but missed them. I explained to the lady what I was after. She was very polite and helpful - taking time to leave her station behind the counter to show me exactly where they were. Don't know what I'd have done without them, as it got really windy later on in the week and they stayed put. I also bought a midge-net hat from there. Don't know what I'd have done without that either! My hubby also used it and said "This is the best £5 you've ever spent!" I think so too! I could spend hours in this shop. It is just brilliant!
