Great location for a walk, beautiful scenery, just an absolutely stunning location. The walk along the length of the Loch is reasonably flat, so not a high stress hike. Be sure to take a snack and some water with you as its a reasonable distance to the far end if you are planing on doing that. Also, the road up to the car park is a service road and goes through a working farm so be prepared for sheep on the road, and a gate to open and close on route.
Free car park with spectacular views and access to some good walks. As others have mentioned the road up to the car park isn't great but I only have a Yaris and managed it fine. We followed the path after the dam until it ended which is about a mile there and back
After a visit to the distillery we took a wonder to see the loch. It’s a single track road with passing places. We went in the evening so it was pretty quite. I can imagine it’s hard work if the road gets busy. Lovely scenery. We were a little put off from walking the nearby hills as the red flags were out due to ongoing deer stalking taking place.
Very scenic, large car park, good track up the east side to walk up and back...be warned if considering the loop around the loch taking on Ben Chonzie, it's very challenging, I wouldn't do it unless fully prepared with all the usual hiking gear!
Car park is free and you’re parked right up beside the dam. We went up in the snow and ice so it was mildly perilous but I was pleased to see it was still open. Ideal place to park up to go take in some views or walk some hills, Auchnafree hill is a cracker.
Convenient spot from which to enjoy Loch Turret and the hills around. Road up to the car park is single track but plenty of passing places. There are numerous potholes towards the end- no trouble in a 4x4 but probably a rougher ride in a car. Car park is small but free and was quiet when we visited at a weekend.
Amazing place to spend your time, long lake surounded by mountain's..you can also see alot of sheeps,.. overall very nice place just to relax and take a good time. You cannot fish there without permision.
After negotiating a narrow potholed road you are rewarded with a decent sized car park and a fantastic view up the loch.No facilities and can get very busy so go early.Great place to stsrt a walk up Ben Chonzie or just a stroll beside the loch.Dogs love it.
Free parking area in Glen Turret. We parked here for a day hike in the mountains to Ben Chonzie and back
A very rarely give 5 star but for sheer away from it all , dark, moody beauty. This place is a gem.
