So many different sections to walk along, great views, good signage providing all the history and what to look out for. Only one single toilet within so best to go before you get there if possible. Quite a bit of maintenance work being done at the moment so only one tower to get all the way to the very top, but still can access way up in the others. Nice touch that a board on the way in provided info on what occurred on this day back in history at the palace.
Very cool place to check out and see some of what history used to be like. You can get a nice view of the surrounding area from the top of the castle which you can get to from the far staircase. There is work being done on it and so there is scaffolding but it's necessary, still other parts to enjoy.
Gorgeous! Not many people were there when we were, but I am not sure why it is a bigger attraction. It is a ruin, and some work is being done on it, but we enjoyed it! Wandering the levels of the ruins, and learning the fascinating history. Just mind where you step and you will love it. Go!!!
This castle was a bit of a surprise to me. We visited this and Blackness Castle the same day. I was blown away by the size of it all and the fountain that is standing in the courtyard is still mesmerizing. The staff was super welcoming as I found with all of the Historic Scotland sights. If you plan on visiting even 3-4 castles, the Explorer Pass literally pays for itself!
Great place to visit. The town itself is a great place to visit. A vibrant place with lots of little shops, loads of great cafes and food.nnThe palace is a fantastic place for old and young. Views are wonderful, lots of space for kids. The palace itself is jam-packed with history and things to see and do.
