Quaint village just west of South Queensferry, Scotland. Accessible by rail or city bus routes from Edinburgh. Lots of well kept flower displays throughout the village. It’s biggest claim to fame or not is the falling down 500 year old palace where Mary Queen of Scots lived when a child, before being pressed into service as the Queen of the United Kingdom, as a child. Steps are being taken to access damages and possibly restore this great artifact, but boy, a lot of work needs to be done on it. If this were in England, the Royal family would have had this building restored ages ago, I imagine. Quite a few pubs on the main street to choose from. We visited the Four Mary’s pub, in a very old historic building. Good beer selection and Scotch whiskey for shots, plus meals for dinner or lunch, if you so choose. Just a nice way to relax at the end of a busy day of sightseeing in this lovely little village.
Was beautiful this morning in the heavy snow very quite for 7am on a working day but was magical. Lucky if you don't want to freeze but admire the snow they have plenty of indoor seating with big glass windows for a small town station. Got kicked off train here with ticket confusion but got onto next one after explaing. Guess it's lucky dip with conductors.
Had the pleasure of using this station over the last two days and I would like to give a wee mention to the staff especially Harry who was a true gentleman last night after our train was cancelled. Harry supplied myself and sister in law with a bottle of much needed water and a kit kat a lovely gesture from a lovely man and the staff ensuring everyones safety on the platform were fantastic to.
Trains both to Edinburgh and West to Glasgow and all stops between both are very frequent! Clean ,tidy station with indoor waiting areas on platforms 1 and 2.
Had the pleasure of asking a member of staff from the station for some help and got a true gentleman went above and beyond for me and my daughter thismorning cheers Harry more than just part of the service
