Drove down from Glasgow and had a wonderful 2 nights away with my partner. The location and hotel is beautiful with such friendly and helpful staff. Sharron in reception made our stay so much easier! We had drinks upon arrival and had breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner included, along with an Elemis treatment at the spa which was a perfect addition. Very romantic, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely come back and recommend! Thank you for our wonderful stay.
We attended for an event and stayed in the hotel overnight. Food at the event was OK, but nothing to write home about. Breakfast - really nice and good selection. Hotel - lovely and public areas were well presented. Room - bathroom very tired and needs updating. Carpets likewise. Staff - excellent. Very polite and professional. They appear to work very hard and are very helpful. In summary, lovely hotel but for the cost, rooms need updating to reflect this.
Had a wonderful stay here over the weekend. We actually arrived a day early for our booking, but they were incredibly helpful and moved our booking for free. The food at the Linden Tree and for breakfast was delicious, the grounds were lovely, and the massage and spa were really nice. The historic photo journal and records were a great touch!
Linden Hall is set in a beautiful location, with beautiful grounds. The exterior of the building is attractive and well maintained, alongside the communal areas of the lobby, bar and lounge. The staff were also very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately that was where our stay matched our expectations - otherwise it fell short. Firstly upon arrival 9pm at night so not too late there was nobody on reception. There was also not a bell to ring to get attention. In the end we had to go into the bar to get the bartender to find the receptionist. After a long journey, checking in should not be difficult. Our room was also disappointing. The bed was very comfortable, but this is really the only positive I can say. Beyond the lobby the decor is very tired and in need of a lick of paint. Our room was in a similar state. It was clean, but very tired and the walls were marked and scuffed. The bathroom was extremely disappointing. Although clean, the grouting was black and needed redoing, the shower head needed replacing as water sprayed out of the connection and little things such as a hook to place your towel on for when you get out of the shower were missing. Breakfast - nice and plenty of choice. It was disappointing that things such as avocado on toast came with a surcharge/supplementary cost to a breakfast that was already £25 per head. I wouldn't expect to pay a supplement for breakfast items. Avocado on toast cannot cost more than a cooked breakfast - so why the supplement!? Another disappointment was that the coffee machine had broken. I would expect to be able to order a coffee in a 4* hotel and found this to be exceptionally poor. All in all a disappointing stay and despite the charm of the building and grounds, I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
The hotel is in a good location, nice large, clean, bedroom. Breakfast was excellent, great service, good choice, nicely cooked promptly served. The dinners however were not good, industrial canteen standard. We were served the same vegetables and chocolate brownie dessert four nights running, I appreciate they are doing it to a budget but no thought or imagine applied. And the pub shuts at 7.00pm!!
Lovely secluded hotel, beautiful building in absolutely gorgeous scenery. Food was delicious both in hotel restaurant for breakfast and afternoon tea and also in Linden Tree pub for evening meal. Bedroom was spacious and had all that was needed, comfy bed, good sized bathroom with a decent pressure shower over the bath. The spa was well worth the money too. Rooms: Standard King room was lovely and spacious, bed looked almost small in the room, there was a desk with chair and also a small table with some armchairs to the side, TV unit across from the bed hiding the tea/coffee facilities. Hairdryer in the wardrobe along with iron and ironing board. Full size wardrobe with hangers and shelves for folded clothes. Trousers press to the side and a suitcase stand. Bathroom with shower over bath with great pressure, space to sit comfortably on the loo without being squashed against sink or bath. Room to get changed in the bathroom/shower and dress. Lovely big mirror with anti steam system so you could see even after the room was hot from shower/bath. Food & drinks: Absolutely delicious. Continental and cooked breakfast were both fantastic. Afternoon tea was really lovely, cute little sandwiches, homemade scones and adorable little cakes.
Lovely night away at Linden Hall. We both got 25 minute treatments and they were lovely. Staff were brilliant. Highly recommend upgrading to a Deluxe room as it was spacious and ours was near the spa so very convenient. Breakfast was nice and although we didn’t have dinner, the menu looked good and might consider it next time we visit. Recommend this place to those looking for a quiet time away as it’s great value and not too far out from Morpeth, Amble and Newcastle. Rooms: They have various room options and upgrades to choose from. Food & drinks: Offer both cooked and continental breakfast options as well as a bar open during the day
Lovely golf course, played three times over three days first day carts were off due to recent weather. Some holes quite boggy but overall a good mix of challenging and achievable holes. The spa facility was quiet during the visit but perfect for couples, small families or groups. Food & drinks: Fairly expensive drinks
Over all we had a lovely stay. The room was very basic, we didn’t have facilities to make a cup of tea. Evening meal and breakfast was nice but pricey. Sauna was out of order but the pool and spa area was lovely. Nice stay but could be improved.Rooms: 3/5
Had a 3 night stay here with my family. First impressions very nice the rooms on the other hand not so. The rooms need a complete renovation. Also, the food we got on room service was disappointing. The staff are very helpful and polite from arriving to departing.
