Last week I went with my baby in his carrier, they wouldn't let me use the self checkout so I had to check out the normal till. I asked the person to go slower as I was carrying my baby but then was moved to another till where the guy went so fast he ended up charging me £80 for a pack of onions so I had to go back into the store to get a refund where they made me prove I hadn't added a baguette to my bag on the way in- actually ridiculous. This week, I put my baby in one of their trolleys with the baby seat and had about 10 items in the front area. I tried self checkout again to avoid having cucumbers thrown at me and my sleeping baby, but was told I wasn't allowed with a trolley even though the checkouts were empty, my trolley had only 10 ish items and that is the only trolley option with a baby seat. It's actually ridiculous, you're selling bargain food not luxury clothes, guys, I actually don't understand why they treat everyone like a thief!
An absolute eyesore! It's a disgrace they are allowed to bombard passerby with huge billboard advertments.. Absolutely horrid Lidl signage why does the store need three signage?! Now, there is a queue to get into Jarman park at the weekends. The area just didn't need another in your face supermarket! I have absolutely no inclinations to shop there.
Well laid out and spacious store. Convenient to get to and loads of parking. However, many items that I have purchased at other Lidl stores were not available. Nevertheless, quite a good range of goods with the usual Lidl quality. Bakery excellent , as ever.
Fantastic shop with a fresh bakery, smells amazing when you walk in. Only let down is selfish/self entitled/clueless people who have parked outside of bays near the car park entrance taking up one half of what's supposed to be a 2 way road making getting in and out of bays along that part harder than it needs to be.nnNeed to paint some markings there to clearly show its not a parking area.
The bakery is elite. Manager offered and went to get me a trolley for the mattress I was buying as he saw I was struggling great deal on an Emma mattress which was at least half price RRP.nnBrownies were so good I went back for seconds later on10 bought total.nnMichel helped me in self checkout and he was very enthusiastic and made the shopping experience very enjoyable despite being near shop closing timehowever he did scan my £30 desk chair twice by mistake but hopefully I'll be able to pop in and get it refunded today and I'm not even mad because I did have a lot of shopping and he was probably at the end of his shift.nnDespite this, and despite being an avid hater of shops that are crowded; which was an understatement from when I went there on opening dayboth at 9am and at 4pm there was:n- well designed shopper traffic flown- ample stocked shelvesn- ample parking especially disabledn- and the staff were all friendly and helpful.n- clean and modern public toiletsn- great prices on groceries e.g. 1.99 for 9 toilet rollsn- amazing black Friday dealsn- despite long queues, I was out the shop surprisingly quickly.nnMuch better experience than the Luton and Watford Lidl experience. Good work Hemel Lidl staff, keep up the good worknnOnly went in there for the bakery ended up spending well over £400.nnThe only things it could improve would be:n- adding trolley shacks in the middle of the car park as you have to bring your trolley back to the shop entrance once you've finished unpacking; whereas other supermarkets have little spots you can leave it.n- making sure everything has a price labeled as the double Emma mattress which is a better deal than the king size 279 Vs 329 only the king-size price was displayed, and the label didn't have the actual mattress sizeking/double just had the measurements and I had to Google it.n- the conveyor belt wasn't working for the till I joined although all the other conveyors workedn- maybe add a limit on the amount of customers allowed inside at a time like Aldi had with the traffic lights during COVID? just seemed like I was in everyone's way every time I stopped to look at somethingnn10/10 would shop again, by far the best supermarket I've shopped at. The fake pepsi max tastes better than the namebrand and it's only 49p!
