In the last few weeks Lidl has gone backwards alas, first they changed to points on Lidl plus, everyone knows its a downgrade for loyal customers then they fitted another raft of more complicated self checkouts that are truly stressful for me.nThen the quality of some products has plummeted in my local store at Harpurhey. It was a store I liked a lot, but in a matter of months they have alienated me...if this is the future of Lidl I will not be participating on the same level which is a shame really.
Lovely store, it's clean and tidy with plenty of space for parking. Nice and bright has lots of essentials for sale and a real mixture of all sorts of different non food items some are good bargains and some not so much. Two checkouts open even though the store was quiet so no time queuing at all. Store has a bakery in store which is great for the fresh bread and rolls.
Would NEVER recommend shopping at this location.nThe worst experience of staff conduct! Upon entering the store, a male member of staff positioned near the front was repeatedly and audibly swearing My mother politely asked him to refrain from using such language. This was a reasonable and proportionate request considering the retail environment and whilst in the presence of children. Instead of responding appropriately, the staff member, Scott, became hostile and directed his frustration towards her being extremely sarcastic, then accusing her of “bothering him.” He then escalated matters further by undermining her request in front of another colleague making a remark to the effect of “That’s the lady you can’t swear in front of”.nWhen she calmly asked him to retrain from mocking her appropriate request, she was subsequently threatened to be removed from the premises. This was not only inappropriate, it was an unjustified threat designed to intimidate a customer who had done nothing wrong.nFurthermore, once visibly distressed and in tears, my mother proceeded to the front of store to pay for the items she had collected, where two additional staff members one male and one female were overheard discussing the incident over the headset in a manner that mocked and belittled her while she was within earshot. The humiliation of a distressed customer by multiple employees suggests a branch issue among colleagues.nMost concerning of all was the response of the on-site manager and Deputy Manager. Rather than de-escalating the situation, offering an apology, or addressing the misconduct immediately, the manager dismissed the matter and instructed my mother to escalate this to head office. This represents a failure of managerial responsibility and demonstrates a lack of basic complaint-handling procedure at store level
No staff on normal checkout so make you use self checkout even when its really busy . Then theres no staff there to do age checks or help when the machine needs it. Multiple of us were left waiting for ages.
A great place for all your shopping needs be it the full weekly shopping trip or just a top up shopping trip and they have lot's of tools etc at great pricesnI heartily recommend that you try this place
