Opening hours are getting shorter and shorter. Just carried my books there only to find it shut at 2pm! After being closed Sunday this is ridiculous. Closed wed too.

It's a nice comfortable library with good selection of books in all ranges. They do have the occasional admin glitch though

Gateway to learning for all. In an increasingly connected world, possession of an East Sussex library membership card brings a whole wealth of benefits, including on-line access to the whole Oxford English Dictionary, and many other subscriber-only services. I've obtained many inter-library loans of specialist books and music scores thanks to the helpful and hard-working staff here. Book return out-of-hours is easy thanks to a letterbox system in operation.

The library is based in a lovely building with a parking area. The staff are extremely helpful and the facilities are good. There is a reference area upstairs/mezzanine and adequate computer access. There is however a kiddies area on the ground floor which can be noisy, with children playing and mothers either talking or reading aloud to their children. It unfortunately does make to difficult to concentrate on your reading or study. This noise carried up into the reference area as the mezzanine area is open along its length. But for this, it would indeed be a 5-star experience. Pity.
