Levens Hall is an absolute delight to visit. The gardens are a garden lover's dream. The absolutely stunning formal gardens are worth visiting for alone. Large swathes of colourful borders draw you through the magical gardens and every vista is carefully thought out. We went as a family of 4 so purchased a family ticket priced at £36 to view the house and gardens. The children found the house fascinating every volunteer working there was so lovely and took the time to chat to you armed with interesting facts and tips. The children loved the little maze and finding the sculpture in the middle. The adventure playground was small but perfectly formed. Hidden away we had it to ourselves. There is a cafe on-site which looked lovely but we did not go in as we had taken a picnic. The plant centre and shop had some lovely gifts and plants. I thought it was reasonably priced too. We spent a good couple of hours there max but would not think you could make a whole day of the visit. Would I return? For the gardens 100% they really are something else. I feel truly inspired.
Super spot for a break before your journey home or while on the way up. Lovely grounds, with the gardens and house to enjoy - with the added bonus of the best cafe in the area. Super food with a wide range of dishes and delicious cakes, plus all the drinks you’d wish for. Thoroughly recommended.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Levens Hall was a lovely place to spend an afternoon. We headed for the Kitchen first for some refreshments. The queue was long but we were seated quickly and my husband joined a long queue to place our order. The food was delicious, soup for him and cake for me. Then we got out to the gardens, which were the reason for our visit! They didn't disappoint. The humourous topiary showed great skill, and it was the first garden I've felt as though I was interacting with. Superb! We both had a fantastic time and I recommend it to anyone.
A gem of a garden. Planted to attract insects, with plenty of wildflowers and cultivated flowers. The topiary is incredibly unusual but intriguing. The on site cafe has delicious food at a sensible price. A must for garden lovers
Excellent gardens trip visit, especially early summer when the trees and plants are at their finest. Plenty of volunteers keep it in fine order. Excellent cafe provides snacks and drinks.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Levens is worth a visit to see the famous topiary. Wondering round the gardens theres plenty of interest from the herbaceous borders and kitchen garden. The Lily pond is very tranquil. The gardens are well kept and very tidy. I will be back to see the summer bedding.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
What a great place to visit. We had a look around the house first and it was wonderful. We spoke to a very informative lady who clearly knew her history. The house was stunning. We then a a walk around the garden. It was huge! We got told they only have 5 part time gardeners if I remember correctly! and they have done an amazing job in the garden, it was beautiful. The topiary was stunning. Well worth a visit. We then followed this with a cup of tea and a slice of cake in the cafe. Overall Leven's Hall is definitely worth a visit.
Beautiful Manor House from the Elizabethan era with the topiary garden. Certainly worth a visit. Nice selection of cakes in the café. Very friendly staff in the house. One of the nicest places I have seen in the UK.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Levens Hall is a delightful place with an interesting historic house and unique gardens full of topiary interspersed with colourful planting. If you have not brought a picnic with you, then there is the excellent Levens restaurant tearoom with a menu to suit all. Children welcome and all seem to have a good time .
Definitely up there with one of the most bizarre and brilliant gardens I have been to. Topiary is fabulously bonkers but what probably isnt given enough credit is the brilliant planting/design of the borders. Blocks of subtle colour to compliment the topiary along with a lot of thought given to keeping the bees happy made for a really great place to be. Loved the edibles as decorative borders too. Thoroughly enjoyed it. House was interesting a nice cafe. Staff/volunteers all lovely. But it is the garden that was the star for me.
