It was very organised openday , enjoyed the talks and performances, questions were professionally answered. Students were very friendly and helpful. It was well looked after building. Canteen had good choices for the students but as it it for students slightly expensive, I mean prices are ok normally but for students I expect slightly lower prices.
An antiquated booking system for the hire of the piano rooms. Why is there not an online booking system rather than relying on a form sent to the Conservatoire that generally never gets a reply or books something you don’t want. Come on Conservatoire, you can do better.
I visit regularly for concerts. The venue is well designed with good visibility, sound & lights. The programme of events is varied & well curated.
I was a rock guitarist studying classical music followed by flamenco. I left because flamenco wasn't taught at that time. It has developed massively since then. The place is amazing.
Been to the open day last year and I found literally nothing about the teachers there. I am a Tuba player who was looking into Leeds. It was a nice building however the only did talking, no interaction with teachers and felt extremely rushed for an open day. I was in the Classical music talk and they shown names of teachers but nothing about what instrument they taught. When I asked if they had a Tuba professor the person doing that talk responded with "We'll try to find one". However, the music business talk was very engaging at the start and was pretty good hence the 2 stars. Overall, I do not recommend if you are a fellow tubist since there is not a single teacher mentioned on the website nor on the open day that played the Tuba. Was a waste of time for the open day, Happy I didn't apply.
Did my Music Programming from Leeds College of Music. Logic Pro and Ableton. Also dis my advance Dj’ing course. Alvin was my mentor. He was awesum during my course. Great school for learning music. Highly recommend for people living in leeds
Photos taken from Leeds Young Talent hosted at Leeds college of music! Absolutely beautiful setting! Does not feel like a college! Very fancy!
We had a fab show round of Leeds Conservatoire! Everyone was very welcoming and informative, and we loved the whole ethos! It was great that the prospective students got to sample some workshops and we got to meet and talk to current students who all seemed very happy and content! We made time to look around the area, everything was assessable by foot and Leeds appeared to be a great up and coming city!
The best music college in Yorkshire. I am a 2004 graduate of York St. John College, York but I went to Leeds College of music from 1999-2001 where I did CASMAP - music. Thanks to all my tutors at that time. Jonathan Bielby. You are the best. My picture was on the wall and I was also in the Prospectus . I currently reside in the US. Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I am a music tutor.
Again, to make it short, I would not recommend this school at all, absolutely not!! I can't speak for the entire school, but at least for the BA course in Popular Music, just don't!!! It's completely crap, just stay home and spend about 1 to 2 hours of practice by yourself every day then after 3 years you'd be way more better than those graduates from LCM. And I mean it, I seriously mean it, it's not an exaggeration. If you go there for 3 years, all you'd get will be a shoddy degree with a trashy piece of paper that says you can play guitar/piano/etc. or whatever and that you mainly do classical/jazz/or pop.
