So, where to start.  One totally absent module leader, a poor stand in lecturer on at least three occasions one of which came totally unprepared, another regular lecturer just read verbatim off the slides, what is the point?. Three cancelled lessons with no notice after a 70 minute & £15 commute & in one module I was given unhelpful and borderline offensive and irrelevant feedback. I mentioned this to the course leader & I was told that there would be contact to discuss with an outcome-it never happened.  At one point there was poor to no communication,  other random lecturers saw what was going on & agreed that the way I was being treated was totally unacceptable. Reported, nothing happened.  My course leader agreed to meet me regarding my concerns at Uni after a class. He agreed to meet at time & place, I was given the wrong room, a class full of students studying so I went to see student services & they said he was in the staff office they tried to fob me off, it turns out that was incorrect, as the said lecturer was at home and wasn't coming in. I wasted £15 in travel costs.  The core course books were out of date by 18 months-no physical replacements for the whole class, imagine if that was a medical course.  One lecturer was caught talking about an email content over a different grade, reported, nothing happened. An extension was only granted 24hrs before thesis submission, if it had not been granted I would have exited the course with absolutely nothing.  I did, however, have two good members of staff, oddly they did not have PhD's, one kept me going at university & stopped me from quitting so I heaped praise on her. I know they read feedback because she emailed me to thank me for my kind words. The other gentleman was highly knowledgeable, was willing to impart knowledge & how to apply it, unfortunately he didn't have the time & I have knowledge gaps.  The two lecturers taking a module I struggled with, did not give the 1to1 support that they offered as I was having difficulty with some sources-sessions never happened, & the email journals never turned up as he went on holiday. The other lecturer questioned as to why my support tutor needed to know what they were doing. The said lecturer subsequently refused to attend a Teams meeting, in short he got caught out doing nothing and could not account for it.  My thesis disappeared after uploading, two weeks went by before they even noticed that the system had said that I had not uploaded it. luckily I had the receipt to show that I had. There was not a single email from my supervisor or course leader asking what was going on. Eventually, the library with digital learning had to step in and take charge.  My thesis supervisor was six weeks late in being assigned without reason or apology and it took a raging email from myself to kick them into gear, he dismissed the work I had done without even looking at it.  The career service consists of online meeting after drop-in session, I was given a pointless 500-page e-book & that was it, apparently it is okay to refuse to do face to face meetings with students even when Covid restrictions were lifted.  I asked about doing a PhD and was advised to go to the Uni website & book a place on the Postgrad/PhD open day, So I went & I was told to look on the website for further information that I went to in the first place. YES LEEDS BECKETT IS THAT STUPID. He didn't even have any information about the process in front of him, he took my number but never rang.  My advice is to choose wisely & not go for universities with populist narratives but actual employment enhancing prospects because this isn't one. It is so out of touch with reality it either needs to start sacking people & offer courses that put people in employment, or just cease operations & close for good.  Some time ago the government was talking about closing universities that do not perform, this should be one of them.  Oh & before anyone says I'm just a disaffected student having a whinge I walked away with a Merit to prove it wasn't me.

Came to Leeds Beckett University from a strong technical background and didn’t expect to learn much I didn’t already know. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the critical thinking and analytical skills I developed here, especially learning to gather empirical data without AI or plagiarism. While some professors were outstanding and truly enhanced my university experience, others seemed to judge based on superficial traits like hair colour, which was disappointing. Despite this, I’ve enjoyed the excellent English breakfast and even won the John Wiley award for top student performance. Overall, my time at Leeds Beckett was enriching, though for my PhD, I might explore other global opportunities.

Good university, good campus & facilities with reasonable fees rates. Far much better for international students for their abroad studies in comparison of other heavy costly universities.

Studied Quantity Surveying Degree. I found the Course Director Joanne Lloyd very unapproachable, unhelpful and at times passive aggressive. Civil Engineering Measurement topic - taught by a lecturer with language barrier issues & speech impeidemt I addressed this in issue in 2020, still this hasn't been resolved. A translator is required to remedy this issue. Domestic Construction- this topic felt like going back to the 1950s before I was born for the record using a pencil and a scale ruler to draw foundations by hand as a Quantity Surveyor is an insult to my profession- last time I checked it is an artictet that would enjoy playing with pencils and crayons! My degree isn't worth the paper it is written on considering the expirence and outdated learning material that was delivered. It is by my pure logical and determination I have successfully managed to obtain a highly skilled career as a Quantity Surveyor. One topic I really enjoyed was Commercial Management & Issues in Construction- now your talking buisness and this is what is the real deal! Jim & Hadi are excellent tutors and are a real diamond in The School of Built Environment.  Also if you don't do a dissertation, don't get forced into it. Don't stress you got this.  P.s the coffee machine in Northern Terrace isn't too bad and is only 40p for you students on a budget have a coffee on me!

unless you're doing STEM related study.. uni such a scam.  cant believe i spent around 70k on a business degree + 8% interest a year.. lol

Worst experience. Non supportive management. Just had one module resit and they made me lose a year. Finished that module in January 2024. They asked me to wait till September to resume the classes. Now  they want me to go back to my country as You are not suppose to stay in the uk if you do not have classes. And they have withdrawn my sponsorship. Came here on sep 2022 for my Under graduate degree and now going back. Wasted a year and 3 year expenses including IHS fee visa fee and extra travel expenses. The WORST UNIVERSITY. DO NOT GO HERE. Being a student at this university has been the most awful few years of my life. If it wasn’t for the sheer expensive of it already spent, I would’ve quit. I’m considering on a weekly basis leaving due to the impact it has had on my mental health. I am a school of health student and have found that there is NO SUPPORT at all, you can sit and beg over email for a staff member to answer a simple question and you’ll get out of office replies during business hrs or some vague answer that usually directs you to go read through some 1000 page handbook that still doesn’t have the answer I’m sick of reading it. Everything is self directed so don’t expect the teachers to teach, they put together a vague power point and that’s it. My tutor has been changed a million times because they keep quitting. I have been asking the answer to something for 4 months and only just got it 6 days before the deadline when I’ve been told what I’ve done isn’t sufficient enough. They went on strike for one of our exams 40 minutes into the exam as we were sat waiting for it to start so it was cancelled and we was told because no one has done the exam then this may prevent the entire year from progressing. The communication is non existent and they are constantly telling us one thing and then going back on it and changing their instructions.  DO NOT GO TO THIS UNIVERSITY ESPECIALLY FOR A HEALTH DEGREE. THEY DO NOT CARE! THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU EVER.

It's a joke!! Education here for construction is far from what they sell you on open evenings and online. You pay your fees expecting to be taught but it is always the sake of needing to teach it yourself. No help is provided when asked and all you can get out of them is a 'thank you for your feedback' ... Avoid if possible !  Oh and parking... that is another laughing matter of this place.

I don't recommend this university to anyone because they are unprofessional and they don't care about the time and situation of student. My daughter had sent her documents to them three months before the due date but every time it took a long time to answer and inform us for whatever they needed and besides that we informed them that my daughter need to get a visa and it will take time but at the end after all these communication they didn't accept her so, we didn't have time to  apply for other universities and this made my daughter unable to go to university this year.
