One of the better Indian restaurants in the Epsom area. Food was nice with a good blend of spices, well presented and reasonably priced. Had to wait a long time to get our courses. Would go again though.
Le Raj is absolutely sublime, every ingredient tastes fresh and perfectly selected. No matter what you choose to have, it always tastes authentic and Michelin star. I have never had a bad experience with any dishes and cannot shout loud enough from any mountain top as to how good Le Raj is!!!
We opted for Le Raj this evening for my mothers birthday as we thought it would be a slightly more special experience than our usual Indian takeaway. Sadly, it did not deliver, as all of the dishes lacked depth of flavour. Whilst all of the food was clearly freshly made with natural, organic ingredients, the sauces were unfortunately lack lustre and watery. Whilst some may prefer the lighter, perhaps healthier style of cooking, it wasn’t the indulgent Indian dining experience we were after.
The service is really good but food wasn't the best of the best... it's really good but not sure Michelin level good... anyway the overall experience was worth it!

I have now called the Raj twice my brother called from overseas alsoand even turned up in person when passing by last Sunday en route to London, to discuss a birthday party on 12 March at the restaurant but have received no call back to date or indeed an email as I have been promised each time. Indeed, the gentleman who picked up on my second call could barely communicate in English and so clearly failed to communicate my request for a manager to call me. Appalling service and Zero stars Ino posting possible for no stars.
I'm not sure how this place got Michel star the quality of food is sub standard, curry gravy in essence initial look okay, doesn't have a bad taste however there is a film of water which appears at the end of the gravy which shouldn't be there they just haven't allowed the water to evaporate to make proper thick gravy. We paid just under £20 for king prawn dish, the king prawns were over cook and didn't have flavour so disappoint overall with quality of food. The lamb was labelled as tender however i struggled ever so slightly when i was cutting it away. It wasn't succulent flavours as it should be, lack of marinating. I have had better lamb dishes in non Michelin star restaurants. I asked for Saffron Rice...it came with no/lack of saffron nor was there any colour to the rice had saffron been added there would be tint of pink/red colour in the rice and would have smelled aromatic. You will see in my pictures FYI we were the only one in the restuarant on Tuesday 6pm so the food should have been exceptionally better as we were only two of us. The restuarant decro is wonderful but i am not paying over the odds for just the decor i had come as this was Michel star establishment and was expecting the same out of the food.
First time here really nice staff amazing looking place, food quality is ok however it wasn’t the best for me as i have been to many places it can improve food looks amazing but not the best taste.
Got a takeaway from Le raj on our return from Bulgaria. Work that one out. No photos. Food is always good here. Usually visit after a trip to our vets next door.
