What a wonderful find! Had an amazing Vienna roll filled with hot smoked salmon, prawns and crayfish! Delicious! Husband had a smoked fish pasty that he enjoyed. Great coffee too and very friendly service. We sat outside in a lovely sheltered seating area. We then went to the fish shop and bought various seafood items to make up a seafood platter to take home - so fresh and absolutely delicious! Again, great service. Would definitely recommend
It was a gloriously hot morning and I’d had some good news-so how to celebrate? We walked the dog at Cornthwaite Park, then popped over the road to Latimers. I’ve bought seafood for years from here, so decided to make up a platter of my very own favourites: crab, roll mops, lux prawns, smoked mussels, home smoked salmon and mackerel, some crevettes and the in store bread rolls. Back home, I added a salad, a glass of fizz and we sat down to enjoy. First class and absolutely delicious as usual. I cannot recommend their seafood enough; what a wonderful local ‘plaice’ to have on our doorstep.
Absolutely brilliant place, set on the sea front of Whitburn. Freshly prepared seafood, including dressed lobster and crabmeat. You can buy chowder/ crab and prawn sandwiches at the 'window', as well as hot and cold drinks....assorted fresh fayre. Inside the deli, Aladdin's cave springs to mind... it's a fish and crustacean lover's dream! Staff are so friendly and helpful. The fish products are handled with such care. Condiments and accompaniments are also available to purchase.
Excellent fish mongers with a delightful outdoor cafe area serving soups, sandwiches and sweets. We stopped by today for lunch and the food was so tasty and fresh and the little cafe area so pleasant to sit in. Definitely an experience worth repeating!
Visited the cafe. Coffee was very good. Dont like the dual pricing, sit in or take out from about £1 to £10 to sit in but the food is basically handed over in a bag anyway and there are seats outside. We were also charged an extra supplement, not sure what for exactly. Was asked at the till after waiting if that was ok. By then well you say yes. But it wasnt really and the sandwiches we bought were no more than ok really. Not that likely to go again.
Collected our usual seafood platter for Christmas Eve. Might just be me, but quantities seem to have decreased in size. I also ordered a dozen oysters, but several of them were milky and not plump.
Fantastic fish counter. Overpriced cafe. The fish counter; It has all manner of sea food, and it is so fresh, they're shilling the oysters behind the counter. They also have a range of sauces/kits and accessories to help you make the most of the items you buy. We bought some tiger prawns, a tub of crayfish tails and some potted shrimp. They were very nice, according to my seafood-loving wife. The cafe; £10+ for six prawns, half a dozen oven chips and a lettuce leaf. My wife enjoyed it, so that's all that matters. The Sailor's Breakfast was nice - a sausage pattie, rasher of bacon, black pudding, haggis beans and toast/baguette. More worthy of the asking price in my opinion. Would we go back? Certainly. We've been several times, and wouldn't hesitate to return.
We had garlic king prawns with fries, and chowder. Both were lovely, the fish was nice and fresh. We sat outside; it feels a bit like you're sitting in the car park, but this can't be helped. Overall we enjoyed our meals.
Just had the valentines sharing box absolutely amazing this is why I love this shop I can see why it's mentioned in the good food guise
They are only doing takeaway at the moment. But it elevates the concept of takeaway to another level. Absolutely delicious and totally special. We got the dressed crab box . It wasn't cheap but it was great value. Two dressed crab, six large prawns, two trays of prawns, smoked mackerel, stottie, mayo and loads of lemon. Next time we will get the lobster box.
