The food was not the best, therefore 4 stars. But quite a good ambience and it’s not too expensive for a French lunch, reasonable prices. Onion soup and the other soup of the day beetroot & turnip was amazing. Snails/escargots were good too.
Service is very slow! My tea had no tea spoon. Sauces had no tea spoon. Mussels was undercooked, a lot of mussels shells wasn’t opened. Whitebait was overcooked. Standards definitely not up to scratch.Food: 2/5
Very good french restaurant in central London. The lunch and evening set menus give an excellent choice if you don't know what to go for. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Very good place to bring some friends who want to discover French cuisine that is different than one carrot in a plate for 100 £. Only down side is that the wines are expensive - only the Bordeaux is good subjective opinion.
1 No-one at the door to greet. Standing in the entrance waiting over a minute for someone to notice you, isn’t a comfortable feeling, anywhere. 2 No acknowledgement that a reservation had been made. Tucked onto a small corner table between the bar and the door. 3 Asked for 2 of the cocktail of the day Limoncello Spritzers. Waiter checked twice what we’d ordered and it was written on the board at the bar, but brought to shots of Limoncello. At £10.50p each, they were not a good choice. 4 After reading the menu for 5-6 mins we gave our order, only to be told that Mussels their speciality was no longer available. We had booked because it is a favourite of mine, and it was my birthday. Should really have just left, but… 5 Ordered a champagne pate and sea bream which were listed as specials of the day. The ‘champagne pate’ was in fact a tough duck and peppercorn terrine served with a couple of pieces of toasted bread. The bream was cooked well and served on a bed of warm crunchy vegetables, but for some reason rocket leaves were then added which was unnecessary. Mashed potato was a stodgy gloop. 6 We didn’t stay for dessert. It was just a disappointing experience, when with a bit more thought, attention to detail vital in hospitality and honesty about the food would have been appreciated.
Absolutely fantastic meal we had at this authentic French restaurant. The staff take so much good care of you as you arrive they are helpful with ordering and the service is exceptional. The food is amazing. I had the French snails and the toulouse sausages with a side of creamy mash. It is so delicious I am looking forward to coming back again.
Really lovely food and service. Toulouse sausages with the Dijon sauce were great. Also had a venison terrine to start which was enough for 3 people. The caramel on the tart tatin was on the cusp of burnt, I didn't mind it but others might have preferred it a little less dark.Food: 4/5
Lovely Restaurant, portions are so good. Atmosphere great. We love it, steaks are cooked perfectly Food: 5/5
Went there for a Monday lunch. It is a bit strange that there are two menus to chose from, but the waiters don't really tell you that both are available. Food was nice, not like blowing your mind/out of this world kind of thing but very nice. Staff was attentive although the waiting between starter and main was definitely too long, I think they forgot about us at some point but it was OK, we were not in a rush. Prices were fine and average for the area.
Extremely good lunch at the Petit Auberge. Having been here a few times over the years, they never fail to provide fantastic food and brilliant service, but this was my first daytime visit, and my first time bringing work colleagues. The lunchtime three-course menu had enough choice for everyone, and we were served promptly while not being rushed. We chose from the weekday set lunch menu which was great value for money, though we were tempted to go with the à la carte menu which was also available. I should also add that the staff changed the booking to add an extra guest, and accommodated a couple of us arriving late with no problems at all. Highly recommended.
We had such a lovely dinner here last night. Really romantic and warm interiors and the food was absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic - really friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend.Food: 5/5
